Problems using the Radio Shack Micromax microscope to check trics

I picked one up after reading about them on these forums. It seems the only way to see anything is to put the scope on a flat surface and adjust. But it seems impractical to use holding up to a bud and trying to adjust. There's too much inadvertent movement to see or focus on anything.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it just too powerful to use that way?

A nice jewelers loop is your only hope. With that microscope, and i have the same kind as well, You will need to take a clipping and check it out on a flat surface

These mic's are kinda crappy, hard to use and if you use it in the sun outdoors, forget about it, great if your cuts are on the table, but truley hard while the plants are flowering. I turn my focus as far left as possible, then as I hold the bud with 1 hand rotate the focus twords me with my middle finger, this has worked best for me.

it's not you. it's just too much magnification to hold steady. the slightest movement will screw everything up. you should see how i have to contort myself and brace myself on the wall with one elbow and hold the bud with my other hand, and then use the wall arm to work the scope. complete pain in the ass. you can get a 30x jewler's loupe at most hardware stores. i know the freight harbor near me has them.
