My lights shut off randomly every 4 or 5 hours for 10 or so minutes...think it's a problem with my ballast. Will this affect my plants?

thanks

yeah I do have a timer, but when the light went out I tried plugging it in without the timer...didnt come back on. Hmm it might be a problem with the wiring from the ballast to the light itself cuz the ballast is still powered up. It's strange I tells ya

So the ballast is still humming away, but the bulb shuts off, huh... weird. It does sound like some loose wiring. How long has this been going on? Try unplugging it and pop the reflector off and have a look, make sure everything is nice and tight.

well i bought it off a buddy, so I'm not sure exactly where it came from. I'll definitely be checking everything when the light's off.

Its overheating the wiring and shutting down to cool down so it doesn't start a fire. The problem is from your breaker to the light, not the light itself imo. What is the amp of the breaker and what wiring from the breaker to the duplex the light plugs into? VV

I Had That Exact Same Problem And I Put In A New Bulb And Solved It. Bulbs Should Be Replaced 1 A Year . After A Certian Time The Bulb
Looses Spectrim Which Means It Is No Longer A 1000 Watt

Victor, I'm not too sure about the numbers but you're probably right. How would I fix this??
