privacy breach

I read on Branch McMasters site that the privacy breach court case starts on April 5th 2016 I guess now that Judge Phelon has some time he can go to work on this issue.

Are we required to sign up or no?

It will be interesting to read about after hearing what he had to say about his last MMJ case.

I signed up when it happened...got a different address and email now, so I will send them a email and ask if we need to register.

I'm curious about the outcome. I predict a small cash settlement to each patient for the privacy breach and a way for others to claim for real damages ie: loss of employment or housing. It shouldn't be a long trial...HC has NO defense or excuse. I hope they make Rona testify....

The way I just read it...this hearing is for the appeal and it may take a year to rule on that...then the class action can (maybe) start? WTF it's already been over 2 years.

i filed a complaint when it happened with the OPC. They had a investigation with HC, i have the dialogue of the investigation and the commissioners decision. He found the claim against HC for privacy breach was well founded. Guilty.

The settlement probably will not be that small IMO. It won't be gigantic unless you had damages, but it will not be small. Punitive damages can speak loudly. And this was just ridiculously over the top terrible.

Significantly more than that based on past precedent. It really is not a small thing for many. And punitive damages tend to be higher the second time around. That is of course why they exist. I don't have a number to offer, but I'd imagine closer to 5 figures than 4.

1/3 is the usual take for lawyers in cases like this so your 6k payout would only net you 4K.

I was under the understanding that the lawyers were taking this on with no charge to the patients. but that might mean if we lose there will be no charge but if we win they would take a portion

i heard somewhere it's about a grand per person but that wasn't confirmed.
i'd be OK with that but we sure get dirty looks now and ANYONE smokes it, we hear about it...and i live in a 21 floor high rise
