Prime LST Example Here.. Short Plant, Big Buds. (Master Kush)

Hey guys, just wanted to show some of the newbies or non-LST'ers exactly what a plant looks like after LST'ing it. This is a Master Kush plant grown from a Nirvana seed. I did not top it at all, just an LST. Oh, and one shoot was pulled to make a clone. Other than that, she's all natural other than the LST.

Here's little MK plant. So small and nice. This pic is from 10/29:

Water her well so she's got some bendability to her.. The next day after a good watering should do. I used floral wire wrapped in a loop to go around the main branch, then anchor the wire down to the rim of the pot. I did it in two spots. After about 45 mins under the light, the tip of the plant turns up.

Now we got a nice 90° angle, I throw her into flowering. Pretty much after that I forget about the LST. Every once in a while I'd pull the main shoot down a bit so it's lower than the other shoots.. but all the shoots that would have been long stringy shoots are now all the same size and height.

Fast Forward to today (1/3) and she's almost ready.. Lots of leaves have fallen so you can see the shoots pretty clearly and how they have grown.. Each cola is almost the same size as the main big one.

See how purty?! :D As for size, the entire plant is 19" from the soil surface. The big main cola is 10" of that 19!! hahaa... If you are a small grower this is a good way to maximize your yield but still keep short plants!!!

Good Luck!

Wow... that's awesome, and definitely wins the "simple" award. If you can't motivate to do that little bit... well...

I sort of did this last year, but my angle was more like 30, rather than 90 degrees (was chickenshit about hurting my plants). Still paid off, but your pics show why you should just go for 90...

Thanks!

do you only do the main stem? Ive been thinking more about FIMming or topping because lst looked complicated.

You can do it to any stem you want.. I just did the middle.

Twiztid123 - if you think bending a stem and tying it down is too complicated, maybe you should forget about gardening cannabis :)

Potberto I just made a thread about this, or close to it looking for some help. I am wanting to take advantage of Costa Rica's dry season here, lots of sun, and was wondering if LST would be my best option for a shorter plant. I am trying to play things a little safer, I do live away from most, but not enough where I would trust a monster growing outdoors. What you have done here seems like it would be the perfect fit for me. Wow under 2 feet and those nice looking buds, this I think is exactly what I've been looking for. I take it you would suggest LST for my situation, wanting to grow outdoors but keep it short right?

Yah Pura.. In your case, if you got like 2 months or more to veg.. I'd let them get to about 6 nodes then top it.. Once the two new shoots come out ties each one down so they're flat angle to the ground. After those get a couple nodes, top each one one more time, then tie those shoots down. Keep it in a fairly tight area and you'll have a nice little bush :)

Good luck

Thanks for the advice, this will be my first LST grow so I have a lot of research to do. I will keep in mind what you have advised since you were able to keep a nice small plant with significant buds, matter of fact I'll probably have a thread on it and hope for some advice from you and others. I'm going to germinate my seed tonight, I have one Durban Poison feminized and I think I am going that route since it's an outdoor strain.

LST is the way to grow.Great job guys.I've been trying to grow small and LST is the answer.LST not only saves you space but saves time as well. The strain that I grow usually takes 9-10 weeks to flower. With proper LST and no topping I managed to shorten flowering period to 6-7 weeks. The plant is at about 8-10 inches tall.

I was wondering if i topped my plant then later on LST the 2 main colas into like a canopy. Do you think that would work?

check it out let me know what yall think bout these..
yeah dude, those are some of the sweetest buds i've seen on here. how experienced are you with LSTing? i'm starting my first grow ever out of soil and am considering also messing around with 2 plants by LSTing. what do you guys think? too involved or easy to mess up for a first timer?
