Preventing bud rot in big dense buds

For the last 2 runs now I’ve been having issues with bud rot. Since using better leds and co2 the buds get so big that the inside doesn’t get any airflow.

Should keeping humidity at 40% solve the issue or can you still get bud rot in dense buds with 40% humidity?

i mean i cant say for sure but yes thats a definite factor, Ive never had rot and my RH is normally pretty low (25-40%)

Normally you should be fine at 40. Is the airflow good enough? Do you exhaust the air? Well you said that you use co2 so I guess not. When the lights go out there is usually a spike in humidity. Whats the humidity a couple of hours after lights out? If their that big you can take a fork and spread the nuggs out to help get more airflow around the colas.

Genetics?

And I think you can get bud rot for any dumb reason, found one the other day, cut it off, moved on.

Well I have a massive dehumidifier keeping my humidity at 40% currently and when lights go out I setup an electric heater that turns on 5 minutes before lights out to ensure it’s up to temp so when the lights go out the rooms heatsource isn’t gone so I don’t get a spike.

I have 3000m3 of air getting sucked through a sealed flower section within my sealed room.

Im thinking even at 40% room humidity when you have huge buds the humidity inside is always gonna be 100%

Lots of air circulation , topping more to get more tops with slightly less girth .
Some strains are really prone to mould and nothing will stop it.

Toss an AirROS unit in your flowering room from day one. It will sterilize spores the air touches, continuously 24/7, no spores, no mold. Bring it to the game late won't kill spores inside the buds. It also takes care of odor. ;) It's a game changer.
Does that work by using UV inside the unit?

Seen your post about that recently wanted to speak to you specifically about it.

It’s just an ozone gen right? How come it doesn’t remove terpenes from buds

It's more than just an ozone generator, it didn't appear to negatively effect my terpenes and they claim it won't. It keeps O3 levels below 40 PPB while creating other reactive air oxygen species like Hydrogen Trioxide that settle on your plants and all surfaces in your room, sterilizing things and turning to water and oxygen within 30 minutes leaving no residue. But I don't think you can get them in Europe yet. Not sure. Try contacting AirROS https://www.airrosbysage.com/

You need to purchase the model with the sensor right? That keeps the air ppb the right level?

How much did that cost you?

It requires a sensor, it's just weather it's internal or external. The external sensor can be located farther from the unit for a better reading in a large space.

Pricing depends on the size you require. The list on mine was about $4300 (4007CS-P) 7000 cuft internal sensor, portable. For a flowering room we use a multiplier of 1.5 on the cubic feet to size the unit.

Holy shit that’s expensive I’d need a 2000 cubic foot one. I’ve emailed them to see if they can supply to Europe

Will probably cost me double as most things in Europe do...

I dont see why you have a heater for the reason you state but oh well ...party on...

Because when lights are heating your room from 20c to 30c when they turn off your temp would suddenly plummet??

If you don’t have an alternative heat source your humidity will spike. No amount of dehumidifiers can keep up with removing the moisture that literally falls out of the air as the holding capacity of the air suddenly drops

You dont need a heater. Cant imagine temps falling like that where you would need one. But you do you.
I only run a dehuey in the winter time when everything is closed up, other times I just exhaust it out.
So I guess its where you live and the climate and how well the room is sealed but anyways ...party on...

I man handle my fattest buds on my Pineapple chunk and look at the main stem to be sure there is no mold forming. I hate to do it but it's better than throwing them away when they get moldy. When the room is 40% the inside of fat buds could still be 80% or more. I make sure they get lots of fan the last couple weeks too.
