Pressurized Closed Column w/ Dewaxing Sleeve.

What's up guys, this year I decided to drop some money on a decent extractor instead of using the normal open blast with a glass tube.

I just got a 1/4 lb closed column extractor with the dewaxing sleeve from BVV.

I did my first run over the weekend with it and was only able to fit about 2 ozs of nicely dried sugar and popcorn in it, no fan leaves, did a dry ice and alcohol bath in the sleeve for 2 hrs, pulled a vac on it after the 2 hours and put some whip it premium in, barely fit a full can, but let it soak for 30 mins, and only got about a 2.5g return.

Really great shatter, but very disappointing return, especially for the money it cost to get this system and having to buy the dry ice and alcohol for every run.

Does anyone have any experience with these dewaxing sleeves, I've searched Google and all the popular cannabis forums and can't really find an answer.

WolfWurx went the other way, and chilled the LPG and material low enough to not extract excessive wax and other ~C-30 molecules in the first place. The same waxes that fall out with inline dewaxing, don't readily dissolve in the first place, at the same temperatures.

That said, one can is not much butane. What size tube and tank?

The two leading companies in this neck of the woods developing the DI sleeve method, are Sweetleaf and Subzero. I would suggest contacting them and picking their keen minds in tech support.

I agree, it doesn't seem like very much, didn't mention that I did this, but I also ran an extra can through it as an open blast into a separate dish and only pulled a gram off that second blast.

The dimensions of the tube itself is a 2" diameter and 12" tall, says it's a 115 g extractor, but I was only able to fit about 2 ozs of sugar and popcorn in it, I also had the buds lab tested at 18% and this is the sugar trim from it, so 3.5 total return is really lousy for 2 ozs.

What size lower tank?

We typically get around half as much from good sugar trim than we get from its prime bud. We use a microscope to tell when we've gotten all the capitate heads, leaving only the stalks.

As you ran it open tube afterwards, and only picked up a gram, I suggest you take a closer look at your material.

Did you grow it, or score it elsewhere? Any possibility it is less prime than you thought, or has been dry sieved before you got it?

Also examine the material before, as well as after at 100X. Pert erect trichomes extract more effectively than ones melted and smeared on the surrounding plant material.
