Preparing room for RDWC

Hi everyone, I'm contemplating the feasibility turning an upstairs bedroom into grow room using RDWC. I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on protecting the floor from leaks and/or system failure. Any thoughts on what one would do if setting up a new space that is not on ground floor or basement? Am I just worrying too much?

I'd go with a grow tray. I see them all of the time on craigslist. How long does a kiddie pool last? Do you cover it so it doesn't photo-degrade? Sounds less expensive. Do they make square or rectangular ones? That would be practical.

dumb question, if set on doing hydroponics wouldnt a flood and drain table with say a fast fit stand be safer if our concern is flooding in a upstairs bedroom? you could pack the table with a bunch of small clones probably be more efficient yield wise once mothers are established.
