Like ur guys posts here, those purple plants u have looked nice, have u ever thought of trying topping of FIM ur plants to end up with 2 or more main colas instead of just one, and the supercropping u talked bout was pretty much correct but only thing is that when u bend the stems u do it just above a node and u wanna break the stem enough so that it cannot straighten it self back up, u want it to create almost an elbow there at the bend, if I under stand it correctly when u do that it will force the node below the break to grow more but at the same time u are still able to have the main growth above the bend continue to grow. To me it kinda sounds like topping a plant without actually cutting off the top, u just bend it above the node u wanna encourage growth in and that will help it.

Also I looked at the plant that I have been asking about and I just wanted to ask you a question that is boggling me ! I looked at the plant today and I was looking at one of the colas and on the top it was fine budding great and the next cluster of buds below that was inside the bushy part of the plant , not getting much sun if any and it was dying it looked like it had a fungus or that it just died and with all the moisture from the rain it just died but then started rotting. It did not appear to to be broken off from the plant and died it was just like falling apart but moist and I saw no pests like spider mites or even aphids. Could this happen where it wasn't getting much or any sun that it could just start dying because of too much moisture? It riminded me opf last year when I got those catepillars that were eating the buds away and it would have a dead part on the bud and if you looked it had a catipillar in it and that was why those where dying! I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything that would make it die but if there is a fungus then i need to find out what it is< if you know anything that may have caused this i would really appreciate it if you may know what it could be! Thank You!

P.S. the neem oil is supposed to stop any fungus so I thought maybe it isn't that but I am stumped, I also am having a little bit of drying out of the buds on the very top of the buds (a few of them) like maybe they wee not getting enough water but it has been rainning alot and also it has been pretty warm after rainning and then very cold at night about 45 degrees (that is cold for here maybe 40 at the lowest) could they be not getting enough water or could it be that the parts that are dried out at the very tips of the buds the small leaves could they be getting cold and could that be causing them to get a cold burn? I am giving them (both plants) nutes bloom nutes botanicare pro bloom 3 times a week and then along with the rain I would think that is plenty of water? I am totally stumped at everything! Well If you can help great if not maybe some advise at how to find out! Thanks!!!!! BB2112!!

I haven't done much of the bending over, I tried it once and it did work but I was told that just topping the plants would create the multiple colas and that was easier and worked as well it just didn't get as bushy but it grew taller and had a lot of very nice colas and I eneded up with just over a lb. at harvest last year with the one plant. using the nutes from seedling to harvest really boosted and thickend the harvest and more blossoms but I just felt that topping them was easier because I also was applying azamax 100% cold press neem oil, for pest control and it was very hard to get the plant covered equally in the neem oil when I bent the plant because it was much bushier and getting to the center was very hard to get it covered and when i topped the plant I got the multiple colas andit was easier to spray the neem oil equally over the whole plant inside and out! So I just stuck with the topping of the plants in the vegging stage and it worked very good! Yeah So if you have any thoughts on my problem here please feel free to let me hear it! I am getting a bit worried because it is the bigger plant of the two that is having the problems and last year I didn't have to use the neem oil on my big plant because the guy at the hydroponics store said that it was probably a very resiliant plant bgecause it was so big and strong it has a trunk at the bottom it is about 1 1/2 inches thick at least and about 4 feet high and about 3 feet wide> so I don't have a clue as to what is going on ! This is also my first time growing in the winter months. So it has been a lot different than it was last year!!! THanks, B.R.B I can add pictures tomorrow if you like !!!

it could very well be that the plants are getting too cold at night, perhaps covering them with clear plastic or a little greenhouse thing at night to keep the cold off them would help.
As far as i know, neem oil is for pests not fungus. Fungus and mold love high moisture, and as you said those areas aren't getting a lot of light and don't dry out well. I would advise thinning out the undergrowth to promote air flow to the deeper parts of the plant. There are fungicide products but i always recommend against applying more product then absolutely necessary.
As for bending vs topping. I like the bending more because i get to use the whole plant and would prefer not cutting anything off the top since that is where most of the hormones are. For outdoor plants, topping would be preferable especially since you need to spray for pests. You also don't have to disguise the identity of the plant from snoopy people so that's a plus to topping.

Thank you for that I couldn't understand what was going on we had about a week of cold weather about 45 degrees at the lowest and I know these plants are grown in colder areas it just didn't seem cold enough to cover but it seems like maybe it got freeze dried because i know i am definetely watering them enough and the only parts that dried out were the very centers of the top of the buds (on Some) and some of the very large leaves, I am also giving it the nutes at least 3 to 4 days a weeks so i doubt it is a water issue and you said that would cause yellow leaves if too much water and that's not what it is . So If it gets that cold again I will definetely cover it because i don't think it died it just had like the edges that were dried and died of the leaves and some parts of the centers of the buds , then that one bud that just looked like it had spider mites and was just dried and falling apart so i looked for spider mites but found none anywhere and i looked very closely so i assume it must have gotten really wet with all the rain and not much sun and then when it did get warm it had already started a fungus on that one bud flower only not on any others and the most of them are on the exterior of the plant. Thank You very much, BB!!!

P.S. what is cold for these plants anyway? below what degrees?

below 50 is cold for these ladies... im so jealous that you get to grow outdoor all year around :-) . Here in CT we never know when the last snowfall or frost is going to be or how hot its going to get. The other day it got above 90, unseasonable warm for this area.

Thank You very much, I have another question! I know what you mean by the weather up there I lived in N.Y. In Somers N.Y. in upper Westchester off the 684 route 116 somers ny was my address I lived there for about 5 years on business building some condo's in peekskill for Windom. Now I am In Calif. much more easy going and it doesn't get so fricken cold and also in the summer it doesn't get so fricken hot and humid!!!!!! 90% humidity and 99 degrees it suked to work in that but it was worth it it did have some very beautiful weather all seasons for sure. I lived in a white colonial house on the corner of were 202 and 116 met white with blue trim on route 116. Anyway my plant iondoors has this little patches of white dust like stuff on alot of the leaves I don't know if it is a fungus or just leaves that got wet and dust landed on it from the water heater? So if you know about this let me know, I have never seen it before. I also am having a problem with the leaves are falling off on the bottom of the same plant which don't have the patches on them but they are falling off very easy!!! could that be that they are not getting nough light because the plant is about 4.5 feet tall and the lights are pretty much blocked out now and it just started happening since that plant healed from being split in two. it is holding and growing on it's own now with nothing holding it together no string and it is supporting it's own weight but the leaves are falling off I don't know if it is because of the light or the may be fugus on the leaves!!!! So if you need pics i will put some up after you loet me know what you think or if you don't get this message for a few days i will try to get them up tomorrow in the afternoon!!!! So Thank You, once again! BB Take care and have a nice one it is probably turning nice and red yellow and orange up there about now or is it too soon? C-Ya! BB!!!

that branch might have been susceptible to fungus since it was broken. That is usually what white dust is on the plant, though pics would help.

and yes, i always love the change in seasons. all the red, purple, pink and white trees are blooming right now and the green ones are just starting to fill in.

Really you think that because it got broken that it got a fungus? I would have never came to that conclusion! well they all died like they were freeze dried it was weird they were budding or flowering and they just slowly started wilting away and both of them just died and i gave up on them about 2 weeks ago but the one that broke was indoors and got to be about 6 feet and the fungus didn't seem to bother it that much till I planted her outside and she just fricken drooped over and then all the leaves started drying up and dying, now all that exists is a few flowering buds on the end of the colas and the plant is basically hopeless now I can't believe I have lost 3 beautiful plants all females and all the harvest! I took a clone off the last one that is almost dead and the clone seemed to take alittle bit of the fungus with it. so i got really frustrated and took a chance and sprayed it with the neem oil only a stronger concentrate and it looks to be gone! however i don't want to spend all that time watching it grow to ^ feet tall and then put it in the ground and watch it die again! do you have any suggestions as to how to get rid of this fungus! I can't show you pics anymore because the neem oil made it look like it is all gone! I just want to make sure that it is before i waste another 6 months waiting for it to die ! Thank You, BB2112

you should probably stick to planting in the spring instead of trying for the winter and summer crops. I know we had really inconsistent temperatures over here and ive been having trouble getting plants to come up. Im sure its nothing, but something odd seems to be up with the sun this year.
the grow shop should have good fungicides. If you can salvage some healthy clones, try to get them going inside and plant them outside when theyre ready.

I wanted to ask you a question about the light schedule. I have a plant growing inside now under lights and I put her out during the day and then when I can't I put her under the lights anyway, She is still in a 5 gallon bucket and I wanted to start the budding process now she is like 4 feet tall and it is getting to big for the room. Should i just wait till it stats to bud in what month? I forgot which month it will start budding on it's own? Also i wanted to know if it is much longer I can change the light schedule to what hours to make her start to bud or flower? she has pre flowers so how many hours do i cut back she gets from 6am to dark at night then comes in. So that is probably around 8 when it is totally dark, so she is getting roughly 12 to 14 hours of light per day! So what should i go down to to get her to start her budding business she has alot of colas too so it should another good harvest! thank you, BRB2112!
