Pre-flower....balls?

I know that this is not the best photo, but it looks like proto-balls to me...

I am new to distinguishing these, and had one false-positive already.

I do hope not, as this is one of only two original Blueberry BXs that I have.

Take care,

Tuff to tell just yet, but If I was a betting man I would throw my chips on female but that is just because I cant see a small stem between the "ball" and the node. Should be able to 100% ID in a few days or so. Usually males show their sex in numbers, meaning several balls clustering but a single ball can be found on the lower nodes. Sorry if this is too indecisive just a little to early for me to tell for sure.

Thank you both for the time. I will keep watching.

Holding my lit loupe and my camera separately is not easy! :0)

...but, Mr B, I have to admit to some confusion, as your photo has anthers...

Thank you for the time,

JD

P.S. I checked some male preflower photos online....that small stem is
a great call, and was indeed in evidence.

Right. Thank you for taking the time all the same.

This is my second false positive. I will not become a nuisance, I promise.

I am learning as I go, knowing that I will just flower a clone if I have to.

No problem and not a nuisance at all bro, that is what this site is for. Thank you for the rep and I hope to help with any information that I can provide.

On an up note, I am pretty sure that one of my Deadheads is female.

So, Crop #3 will be at least Deadhead and Blue Cheese. I am still hoping
for a Blueberry BX to confirm female, that and the Chem 40G but I had only
one regular bean of that, so I am not keeping my hopes high.

Oh yeah, and Qrazy Train. There are two regulars of that as well.

I am going to be taking clones, but am waiting to see how my sub-SOG
(24xAK, 6xSomango, and the mothers) works out....I may want to reduce
the number of plants.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

I wanted to report that I have seen female pre-flowers on some of
my Mothers. So, crop #3 will be at least Deadhead, Qrazy Train,
Chem40 G, and Blue Cheese. I have yet to confirm a Blueberry BX.

I had only one bean of the Chem, so I feel lucky.

I took these holding an LED lit loupe in one hand and a camera
in the other....i.e. they kinda suck... :0)

Chem 40G:

I believe that I read that male pre-flowers will show first, but the
presence of anthers is an easier thing to distinguish.

Take care,

JD

Thanks Hydro. I appreciate the good word.

I played it fast and loose, and only got two regular seeds of each breed,
figuring that I would at least get a female of a couple of them.

...and then one of the Chem 40G sprouts rotted (where the stem hit
the soil...too wet I am thinking...the only failed sprout). This was a
bummer, as this is the Reserva Privada genetics, and I had high hopes
for it. (pun is fine by me ;0).

So, seeing that the remaining Chem is female was great news.

Thanks again,

JD
