Potted Soil Grow Questions

i don't like 707.
if you took ALL that wood out and replaced it with humus it'd do better.
wood products are filler, and nothing more, they are adding that to make the bags cheaper to make.
wood products are in fact not desired under any circumstance
at least for cannabis mixes.
factually speaking, anyways
i'm not trying to be argumentative or confrontational, just saying wood isn't wanted at all for a mix, it's bad from many reasons
No I feel ya I use promix bx, greenfields, and original all mixed up. I stopped using 707 due to gnat issues

Yeah I would say if your using strips, not a meter, than the most accurate way to test pH would be the runoff, only because after you mix the nutrients and water the components of the soil could also have an effect on the PH levels...
Run off ph will make you chase your tail. The correct way to test without a probe is to mix equal parts soil and deionized water and test the slurry. Distilled water can be used.

I cloned my recent grow and decided to make a mother out of her.
I will be honest, I am not very good at soil and I have a few questions.

1. How do I check the pH using a meter or strips.
At first thought it seems like a straight forward answer, but: Do I test the run off water? Do I stick the strip into the soil, Do I stick the meter in the soil? etc

2. How do I correct the pH of my soil?

I appreciate any assistance.
When organic matter decays it creates ions that buffer ph. As long as it is a good soil and you ph the water going in it will be fine. Add a little lime to help buffer the ph.

The ph of soil also swings as it dries to allow proper nutrient uptake.

yea, i'd say so, the issue is repotting when the plant isn't fully grown into the container is sketchy at best..
meaning you WILL shock it, most likely damage roots as well..
as far as the mom question, it's hard for me to advise on that, i don't keep moms, i clone off clones (been doing that for decades without a problem)
i don't change any nutrients for my plants, ever.
they get the same compost that i make, and nothing else.
but keep in mind my compost is LOADED with amendments, and cycled for at least 6 to 8 months prior to using. Loaded with microbial life, worms and humus.
other growers can give you more specific advise regarding bottle-feeds.
it's been well over a decade since I've bottle-fed anything
Its easy. Don't be scared to do it.

Just be gentle and they will be fine.

I checked the pH of the soil I have been using with some strips. It reads somewhere between 6-7.

I scored my self some happy frog soil mix.
No wood in it. Has a decent amount of perlite.

The soil is still damp btw.
The room I have the plant in for whatever reason stays about 65F A little on the cool side. Should I use one of those heating mats for keeping seedlings warm?

be careful about adding ferts to that soil. You might not need to, so let the plants grow for a while and see how they do. if the look fine, leave them be.

Yea, I didn't grab any nutrients for it. I read the bag and it seems to be good as is. Once I get it transplanted I will keep an eye on it.

screeched to a halt, this thread.

Its cool. I asked the dude to hook the chain under the tractor to the front to keep the wheels down.

Just remember, safety first. You would be surprised at the people that don't wear safety gear.

I just had a dangerous job in the military and some after that were dangerous.

I don't get high if I got something important or dangerous to do.

Carry on though.

I'm about the same.

Don't get me wrong, I take spells where I smoke all day every day. I take spells where I don't smoke. I haven't smoked in a few days.

I'm not saying cannabis is dangerous or impairs a person that bad. A couple weeks back the antilock system on my car failed for some reason. It was wet and slick. I was going down a hill and around curve. The people in front of me stopped abruptly and their brake lights weren't working. Since I didn't see them brighten it didn't register for a second they were stopping. It was scary. I hit the brakes and they locked. It made me slide into on coming traffic. I let off the brakes for the tires to grab and got back in my lane and then realized the car in front of me was still stopped. I did this back and forth a few times until my car stopped.

I was high but kept perfect control of the car and it was like slow motion.

I have been hurt a few times and even had a chainsaw hit me in the head. It just bothers me at how bad those accidents could've been if I was high.

shit man, what kind of car/truck do you have, i got allllll sorts of experience doing ABS diags
on a truck the differential speed sensor is common issue (esp f150, f250 ect), for cars its the wheel speed sensors.
ford SUVs (expedition, excursion, etc) have issues with abs control modules
the scary thing is when your car thinks it's skidding and it isn't, and the pedal depresses, chatters, and goes to the floor, as your vehicle doesn't stop nearly as fast as normal..
shit, ya don't need any coffee after that happens, and if you were high, ya aren't anymore...
nothing like a blast of adrenaline to sober you up
