Question from a beginner. After you cut, hang dry for 6 or so days, why is the potency not there as if you cure??? Preciate any suggestion or answers.

from the grow faq

Naturally, as the metabolic processes continue during curing, the conversion of cannabergerol to tetrahydrocannabinol will continue and the potency of the pot will increase. This is because cannabergerol (CBG) is the non-psychoactive precursor for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Of course, the exact change in THC content will necessarily be dependant upon the concentration of CBG in the fresh material at harvest. Of course any remaining precursors necessary to form additional cannabidiol (CBD) and other cannabinoids will also be consumed and converted.

what????

i dont understand the wording of your question

hanging weed up to dry over time is curing.

are you asking why bud that is slow cured, is better than weed that was speed dried?

if thats the question heres the answer.

after you cut the plant, its internal metabolic processes continue for awhile, using up chlorophyll and some wood resins, various other things the plant uses for growth.

at the same time its still using those nutrients, it continues to produce THC.

by using up the chlorophyll and such it makes the smoke smoother.

by giving it that bit of time to make a bit more thc. increasing potency.

when you speed dry, it stops those metabolic processes, making for a harsher smoke, and not allowing the glands to finish off.

microwave drying is about the worst thing you could do to green bud, other than leaving it in a toaster oven.
