Pot Height for Flood and Drain?

Have read Al B Fuks threads front to back and back to front and havnt found any reference to how high his pots are. He say he floods to 70mm but the 200mm x 175mm pots he talks about are 175mm tall at my local shops, this means there only flooded about the lower 1/3rd? Seems nowhere near 'flooding' to me? Is this typical for flood and drain setups or am i missing something? All the available fllod table I can find at my local shops are 100mm deep so that would correspond to a 70mm flood depth.

doesn't need to go much higher than 1/3rd. Think about when you put a clone into a pot. bottom of the rockwool is usually a good inch or two below the top of the pot. and there's wicking action (albeit not much, with hydroton).

You can top-water once a day with fresh clones until the roots grow out enough to reach the flood level.

I never flood past halfway

Ok I usually fill the pots to nearly the top but going down an inch would make it almost a half way flood, I'll give it a go. I am also interested in trying the fytocell that al b talked about, does that wick up like the wool?

Come up with your own preference. Some strains don't like wet feet as much as others so you'll play around with how deep you plant them as well as how high you flood them.
