Why does that matter? So that means ice is colder... I don't get it. Room temperature is like low 70s right? Room temp water is about as cold as that bong gets...?
Your bong will get as cold as you make it! I like to add ice to mine to cool down the smoke, some have ice catchers, so the smoke passes over the ice itsself. The coil with the frozen glycerin in it would cool the smoke as it passes through the coil, providing a smoother cooler hit. I would imagine part of the reason they use glycerin is it may not expand and contract the way water does, and this would help prevent the chance of the glass breaking. If it freezes at a higher temp, it would also mean the glass doesn't have to get as cold and brittle!bongsmilie

actually they use glycerin because it freezes at a much lower temperature, and retains temperature well. And since liquid is much more effective at temperature transfer than solids it will cool the smoke more effectively than if you had a tube of ice the smoke passed through (though the cold does have to pass through the glass first)

but that's beside the point, anyone with a $1200 illy is a lucky SOB

Hell ya their lucky. Thanks for the info on the glycerin, I was stabbing in the dark. I thought the expansion thing could have something to do with it to prevent breakage. Your pieces look badass bookworm.

I've been wanting to get a stemless bubbler real bad, saw one a couple weeks ago I loved, but didn't have the 250 for it.

I want to get a diffused one

thats a glass on glass bubbler, not a stemless. Wtf's a stemless bub? Pictures? I know how it works but it would have to be quite tiny to work as a bubbler. I dont feel like the smoke is filtered enough with stemless's anyways

ya I know what that one is, I've had my eye on it for a while, but my present bubbler has been doing great. I have no idea how a stemless bubbler would work. don't you need a stem to pull the smoke through the water?

Ok, so I went and looked up stemless bubblers.

it's kind of a joke, they work in the way I expected them to, though the actualy implementation is quite clever. It appears to me that they would be difficult to pull through.

just really a gadget more than anything else.
