Possibly a new way to grow.

In all seriousness. The plant needs to open its stomata to absorb C02, C02 is essential for photosynthesis if the plant can't get C02 then it will not grow. Basically, it's an interesting idea, it's not stupid, but simply it wouldn't work due to the genetics of the plant. If I were you I would just stick to hydroponics if you like the idea of being soiless, or even aeroponics which sounds fun also.

Try it. I had same idea months if not years ago. Fuck it Try it. Got my curiousity. At least if you try it we will have a definitive answer. yes it works or no it was a dumbass idea. I got friends that germ their seeds in cups of water and just leave em in there til they sprout under the water. That works, right??? So why wouldn't it continue to work as the plant matures? I say try it with an open mind and no expectations! I'm only on my second soil grow so take my word with a grain. peace!

Finally, the actual answer. I wonder if the criticizers new why it wouldn't work?

Best answer yet! U wonder why 'strangers' ask dumb questions? Cause they dont know the answer. Thats why they come here, to find out! If we dont help them, the questions stay unanswered. Then someone else will ask, and so on...

It is a funny ass question tho. Ill rep ya for the chuckle. If u do a journal, lemme know.

Wow, ya know...I usually don't jump in on this kind of thing..but DAMN. Really?

Someone should have paid more attention in school.

OP, you are kind of talking about DWC..but thats just with the roots in the water...but not the whole plant. It simply would just die. I don't think it's possible to grow a non aquatic plant underwater...even with added Co2/o2 or whatever else they may need from the air bubbling through the solution.

EDIT: And here is exactly why it would not work:

+Rep for a great answer.

Also plants suck up water through their roots. This is caused by transpiration(evaporation of water from leaves), which causes is the deepening of the meniscus just underneath the epidermis of the leaf, with enough of this evaporation happening at once it will cause enough pressure in the plant to actually pull water up the capillaries of the stem. In essence if you cant evaporate water from the leaves, no transpiration can occur, no growth, there will be no water movement in the plant other than movement which requires ATP.

It has already been said...cannabis is NOT an aquatic plant. Did you know that plants give off oxygen but also take it in? The stomates (used for gaseous exchange) in the leaves would suffocate if the plant were totally underwater. So while you thought you were on to something, you were way off, sorry.

Try using carbonated water in a pressurised grow tank with the light outside of the tank and youll need small pocket of air inside to mount air pump so you can use air stone to bubble it youll need sillocone or something to seal the unit. around the power cord...carbonated water will give you your Co2? still ?? if you try take lots of pix

you know i've actually heard of this. my friend and I were at a house with a few other people. everyone was comparing weed to see who had the best. we pull out some purple haze thinking all high n mighty of ourselves. then this guy pulls out the greasiest, stickiest bud i've every laid eyes on and he said watch this, and he gave it a nice little hurl at a wall and it stuck there for a second or two and fell off. he "SAID" it was grown underwater in a fishtank, but didnt go into any further details...i dont believe it, nor do i disbelieve it, but thats my 2 cents.

lol i think i know what he was talking about, i used to have this huge aquariam for my 6 foot iguana, there was a huge space underneath that was like a cabinet, under the water...

you can do it!! if you buy a Co2 injection kit for a salt water/freshwater aquarium and all the goods that go with it but i think you will fail an ASSLOAD of times before you will be successful because of the Ph and EC and all the other goodies that come with hydroponics and aquarium reef systems!! years ago people laughed at hydroponics and now look at it !!?!!

well i thought it might work because you can have co2 and oxygen in water, i wasnt sure about flowering it underwater but everything would have to be precise. I thought it might just be crazy enough to work.

Have you eveer been swimming and water catches on you eyelashes, well what if some oxygen bubble could stick to the leaves and then the leaves could absorb oxygen and then co2 dissolves in water so it might work. im not doing it right now but when i do i will post up here. its going to take some equipment thats for sure.
