Have 15 seedlings, about a week old and looking pretty good. I am running 4 x 100 (actual 100 W not equivalance) and have the plants 8-10" far away. Is that too much light or can a plant ever recieve too much light (not heat). There is extremely good ventilation in the room and the heat from the lights is dispersed extremely well. HELP!!! :-|

There is no such thing as too much light, more lights=more heat, that is all you need to worry about when adding more light,as stated before just have good ventilation.Good Growing peace...

Absolutely there IS such a thing as too much light, especially for seedlings, but I don't think you can get there with CFL's. At least not without some heat burn affecting you first. So...grow on my man. ;)

Disclaimer- "too much" by very definition is too much. "too much" of anything IS too much. That is why it is referred to as "too much". hehe

His question- "Is that too much light or can a plant ever recieve too much light (not heat)."

Example Anybody can put 50 1000 watt lights above seedlings with no probs the only thing is having enough space, adequate ventilation, and the right distance between lights and seedlings.Too much light for the Space you (anybody) have YES, too much LIGHT for your plants (seedlings in this case) NO :peace:

what is it with people buying cfls thinking that the equivalent wattage is enough? basically when it comes to cfls buy as many as you can afford and afford to power, that is enough light.
