Hey guys , long time no post. Im finally planning my first gurilla for next season and im thinking about what im going to do when harvest time comes around. I was thinking i could build a wooden box 8 feet long, 2.5-3 feet wide and 2 feet high with string strung inside as a platform for the harvest to lie on while drying before i throw the buds in jars. The box would either be put under ground and covered with a layer or 2 of earth or blended in with the forestry. Id love to put it under ground so i can avoid the box being in direct sunlight causing inside temps to rise. So i ask you, what do you think about this? Has anyone tried something along these lines? I was also curious on what i should use to absorb the moisture expelled by the buds while drying. I remember reading that carbon filters were prime to filter out the smells of flowering plants indoors so would that mean they are porous and could absorb moisture aswel? Or is there something else i should look into for moisture absorbson because this is one of the most key ingredients in the drying process so id love to be able to get it right. I would also be burping the box 2-3 times a week at least checking for mold, rotating the harvest and putting in new moisture absorbson pucks/ what ever i decide to go with. Im currently sitting with 50+ unknown strain seeds (obvs mixed) but the bud they came from was very potent and smelt great so i have decent hopes in terms of quality of bud since i know it wasn't some horrible china. More than likely ill be purchasing some seeds online with attitude as well, i just haven't decided what strains ill be going with. Thanks abunch! :bigjoint: :weed:

ok i messed up my entire outdoor grow this year(mold) because i didnt allow the buds to get enough airflow idont know about any water absorbing pucks or anything like that but um you need airflow not too much not to little like a breeze evry 2-3 minutes you should be good las year design i should of took again but what i did back then a put cardboard on the ground, put a tarp over that. place buds on tarp.put 3' stakes around the tarp. wrap breathable mesh around the stakes. then placed another tarp over it all (not touching buds) to keep light and rain off it was late october at the time so it was kinda cold i got excellent result

hmm, i totally forgot about the breeze factor. That sounds like a good idea though, i just hate the sound of leaving my harvest unattended for prolonged periods of time when its out in the elements like that. Id much rather do the box idea and modify it so i can have a computer fan or something along those lines running all the time while keeping track of the temperature & humidity levels. How long did you leave your bud to dry like that for?

i would use a tent in your own back yard i built a fort when i was younger and i just put a small hiking tent i use for hiking inside fort. no one has the balls to try and seek into my back yard or they will get it i can see everyone traveling i also got a padlock door on my fort so noman may pass. the only hard part is geting a breeze and the cold is killer turning buds purple and the morning dew stayed off just open tent under cover atleast once a day just dont touch buds. gl i now you got to be stealth let me guess you still live with parents? I just turned 18 and am going to comunity college but cant afored a place of my own or i would grow indoors. As soon as im done with my 2 years of school and am shiped off to the police acadimy i will get my own place and grow bud!! i want to become a game warden not a cop compleatly diffrent going after people killing endangered animals!!!

I compleatly forgot aobut the idea i saw you take one of those tubs with a lid cut a hole in the side and put a carbon filter over the hole and no stank gel inside then put the bin hung with buds somewere safe inside your house were no one would see.what i did was take a 20 gal tote box (cost maybe $7.00 at lowes or OSH) as seen here then i cut a hole big enough for a small desk fan 9" (cost like $6.00 dollars at rite aiddrug store).. then i drilled a small hole and used wire ties to tie it to the hole in the box. i then have a small 13oz can( cost $5.00 at OSH) of dehumidifier non-toxix used for pantries and such as long as you dont spill it..lol

i set that on the bottem of tote can.. then i had drilled holes for some support for Screen wire trays as seen in pic.. then drilled holes in side and then the top for air flow.. well after 3 to 4 days your buds are nice and dry and then can go in to freezer or be smoked... holds taste and smell very well .. have to watch for over drying.. try to keep somewhat moist... lol or not use the dehumidifier if you dont feel like watching alot.. then as for smell.. i am a legal medical marijuana smoker so i dont worry but if you are.. use can make a coffee can filter with charcol by the fan blowing out and mount it some way... or what ever else they use.. lol....

sometimes it is good that i am disabled.. lol... hahahha..
well the whole thing cost maybe under $20.00... if you set it on a timer you can control the amount of air flow the fans pulls out...if you want send me $40.00 i will buy the stuff and build you one and ship it to you but you do got to cover shipping weight is maybe 8 pounds so under $15 shipping... or hell 50.00 to build and ship to you ...lol...

good luck have fun and happy growing.....

box held over 10oz at once in 2 trays stacked and rotated once a day for 4 days then in freezer for another week opening and drying once a day... smokes well super dee duper...

Unreal, that was such a huge help! I might do the tent/fort idea and put the buds in the containers you posted in your last post. It would keep the buds safe from insects and due ect.. Ive also decided that my grow this season will consist of the 54 bagseeds i have as well as 6 feminised serious seeds white russian. For the white russian ill most definitely be doing an outdoor scrog looking for a huge yeild but not sacrificing quality.
