Possible mold?

I have a blue dream which I had dried to the point where the stems snapped...I then put them into jars w a little humidity dial for a reptile enclosure. The dial read about 60% this evening when I got home so I popped open the jars and I got a very slight whiff of ammonia. Anyways I took them back out of the jar to dry further, my question is: should I put them back in clean jars tomorrow morning and try again it should I just dry them completely to eliminate the mold and smoke them the way they are?

So I left the buds out overnight, broke all the big buds up to see inside, and I didn't see any mold. I then placed them into jars before work. When I got home the humidity dial only read 31%, yet the ammonia smell came back. Would mold even grow at this low of humidity or is this just how this bud will smell? Also is there any point in still curing this weed if the humidity is that low?

If theres white mold thats grown on it. Its garbage. Sorry man. Ammonia smell is not a normal weed aroma. Your not having a great day huh?
You can from what ive heard, make bho from it. Please dont blow yourself up if you attempt this.

Well I busted out the loupe and a flashlight and couldn't see any sporish, webby looking stuff, but I think I'll take your advice. I have been wanting an excuse to try some BHO.

Yeah no kidding on the bad day thing. Oh well no biggie.

Yeah I was a bio major in college so this should bring back some memories. Organic Chem anyone? Just kidding should be fun though, anything else I need to know besides plenty of ventilation and don't mix open flames w butane?

Leave your cell phone inside. Stay away from anything with electricity running through it. Do it outside, never inside.
Spray into a pyrex dish with hot water under it so the dish is almost floating on the hot water. Dont get water into the bubbling mass of blasted resin. Heat helps the butane to bubble out. Then toss it while its still bubbling into a vac chamber. If you dont have a vac chamber work it with a razor blade clamped into a vice grip pliers over heat. Working it helps the solvent bubble out.
I just use a vac chamber i got off of amazon for 250 bucks. Works great.

People die and blow themselves up all the time. My chemist friend blew himself up once doing it inside. You need to take it seriously and respect the explosive power of butane. Once its in the dish bubbleing take it inside and its safe....but i wouldnt smoke over it yet ;)

Hmmm Just finished curing my harvest @5 weeks now of curing and I have to say. I had one jar filled with a few buds that I saw had mold. (I could barely stand the smell) then I have red speedy chillie. And it had a hint of an ammonia type smell at first... This was bc I Jared them way to wet. However. Over the course of 5 weeks the smell started to vanish when it started curing. Still had a slight smell of what I thought to be an ammonia smell. Until I smelled what mold smelt like from my one jar. And 2 totally different smells. Just my 02 cents

The ammonia smell could come from the jar itself, either by what was in it before or what it was washed with. Did you by chance get the smell from the jar before filling them?
