Possible Boron deficiency

hey guys my 8 tomatoes at about 3 inches are under 2 400wt flood lights with good ventalation at about a ft away and they started at about 4 ft away and i have slowly moved them closer with no issues until today i have been taking them out for walks in the sun A few times for a good 8 hr period just to give them some of that natural uv, and are about 2 weeks old with 4 normal sized leaves and 2 new ones each growing in right now very slowly i have transfered them from small cups of starter soil into 1 gallon pots with organic compost and some blood and bone mix. when i did this they slowed right down in thier growing. i have done a ph test and it seems that i might be at about 8 not 7 so i will look into this further. i am using a very small amout of a mild plant starter nutrient and have been very carefull not to burn them, on just three plants they now are starting to have some pale discolouration leaning towards a yellowish color in the centre of the razor like leaves and it is starting to spread i have taken them down about 10 inches from the lights compared to the other plants to give them a break. i have read that this may be boron deficiency i would love to hear your advice!

i will soon be adding a 600wt hps bulb and prob leave on one of the 400wts or get some smaller energy saving blubs.

sorry about the quick manner in wich i have wrote this i will update it tomrow.
thanks for the support!

Sounds like they're nute burned, judging from your descriptions. If you have a good soil, you shouldn't have to feed yet. Also if your soil is good you'll almost never have problems with Boron or other micros. Just my opinion. Also ''flood'' lights to me mean halogeons, which aren't good for growing. Without pics though I could just be misunderstanding. Good luck.

You mention nothing about pH of your water. I suggest investing in a digital pH meter. MJ plants like a slightly acidic environment and some water is too alkaline for them. This can manifest itself in the form of yellowing leaves, etc.

lol thanks guys i will post pictures later today the ph level is around 8 8 and a half so i do need to try to sort that out today i am also trying to get a new light but due to money restrictions i am unable yet hopefully in a few days i hope they last that long, today i will be putting them in the natural light again for a good 6 hours, please realise that my nutrient is very very mild and i am using very very small amounts and did not use any for the first week only once i had 4 leaves fully showing and they were at least 5 inches. i think it may be that i moved my lights to close they do give off alot of heat BUT!!! they arent going yellow around the edges! and their growth is stunted i do believe the man at the soil shop screwed me around by giving me the organic compost as it has alot of bark and sticks and stupid shit in there that may have raised the alkalinity of my soil unfortunately. but would this cause that problem? i noticed when i woke up this morining this is getting worse and dont forget they are very pale in appereance when i lived in canada i had beautiful dark green plants even at this stage! but hey canadas great for our kind of tomatoes right? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR QUICK RESPONSE!! i will be back on here in a few hours to post photos and more info! :D:D:D:D:D:D

yes but i prob only use a half a cap of nutes a day, how much should i be using the product is called (Multicrop Plant starter ACTIVE INGREDIENTS 0.05g/m indole acetic acid, 0.05g/l naphthalene acetic acid) using directions on back for cut flowers 6ml/litre of vase water 1/2 cap

OMG i just realised i should only be putting this in once a week!!! not everyday!!! omg thats so shit im stupid! i will stop this starting today and see how it goes.. this is prob why my soil ph is 8 instead of 7 i did add some sulphur today and hopfully that will lower the alkalinity within 6 weeks. i just pray that they will survive my stupidity!!

how long do u think it will take to see the effects of stopping the nutes?? is there any way to counter act this?
I have read about flushing but cant seem to work out exactly how to do it without killing them by overwatering? do i just throw heaps of clean fresh water on them and let it run out the bottom??

thanks for the info i didnt realize this at all i have been watering as soon as the top soil gets dry. and since they are in such big pots for their size i have been watering alot because the top soil has been drying very quickly since im using a mist spray when i water.

because my lights give off so much heat it sometimes gets up to 30c in there! i have a good exhaust fan but have yet to mount it in the ceiling so it sits down the bottom with the plants. i have a big fan that blows air in every few seconds to cool the light before it gets to the plants and i have a bit of sticky tape hanging from the sensors of the floodliights so when the fan blows they switch back on lol this seems to be working, the plants really seem to enjoy being outside as much as possible so i do try to do this as much as possible but its hard to do it without the neighbours seeing i kinda need to hang out alot of towels and create a barricade! i am worried that soon i will not be able to take them for walks as i will be working full time where as now i am not working at all lol. i will need to build a reservoir also if anyone has tips on this or diagrams i would love to hear the input because self watering is just such a hassle!!!!!

TIPS ON RESEVOIR?
TIPS ON CORRECT NUTES TO USE? (that can be bought in AUS)

I must say this is all so exciting and daunting one because this is my 2nd try and i have no idea what im doing, two because i have NO IDEA WHAT STRAIN THEY ARE! probly a really shitty one but hey its just for a bit of perso hopefully if i do this right it will be good enough to smoke!

thanks for all of your help guys if i hadnt of put all this down on paper or on website and heard ur QUICK RESPONSE i would never have stopped killing them with nutes!!@@! and overwatering!!

Those are not nutrient. Those are rooting hormones. Poor plant must be half crazy. cn

does anyone have any diagrams or good methods to make a self watering resevoir???
also id love some advice on nutes i can buy in aus because i have no idea obviosly?? what should i start off with?? other than the root stuff?

i have been looking at self watering pots but now i have already transplanted once i kinda dont want to do it again!!!

SHOULD I BE FLUSHING THE PLANTS?? SINCE I POISEND THEM WITH ROOT HORMONES?
