I never really see too many threads bout outdoor in Portland so thought id throw mine up this yr. 3 grape ape and 3 jack the ripper started indoor and planted outdoor June 2 when they were 1-1.5ft tall

Nice garden. Consider getting a roll of remesh(6" x 6" concrete wire mesh) and put a a 3 or four foot diameter cage around each girl. This will provide all the support they'll need if you get high winds or a lot of rain. I lived in the Columbia Gorge many years ago and have seen some very intense storms. BTW, I'm still using some remesh cages I put together 25 years ago.

nice garden. did use a backhoe to dig those rows how deep are they? your strains are good to man the jacks will get huge :)

Not in this particular area thankfully :) Ya digging the holes def wasnt my most favorite thing to do but I wanted em to have lots of room to grow. Hopefully the weather holds out longer this year. last year we had an early fall....lot of rain and high winds in late sept-oct and it totally messed up my outdoor blue dream. shoulda known better but I took the chance based on the previous year long hot summer that went into early nov

im sure theres alot of moisture up there. you guys get bad mold i assume if u go to late? some of my plants went until dec. last year i had to cover them. made a frame over the plants and threw tarps over.

Forgot to mention, if you build the cages, be sure to anchor them with a T-post driven well into the ground. Learned that the hard way one August when we had 50 mph North winds.

last season was definitely a bust for most. i lost half my crop even with a greenhouse.

hope you got plans to put one up for those ladies.

heres a few more enjoying todays sun after the three days of rain /clouds we just had......Love that they just explode with growth in the sun after some rain.

I'm in Oregon too hey man. Love the way you tilled the dirt and spaced your girls out. Very clean set up. Are you building a roof of some sort to keep them dry late in the season?

We have some home made protection that we built in case of sudden heavy rain/wind. It resembles the semicircle carport things but it uses a greenhouse plastic that has a higher transparency. I will post pics when and if we need to put it up this year.....which hopefully we will not but are prepared if need be. :)

I'm going to build a pvc pipe frame around my garden, so I can throw clear plastic over it if needed, so I don't lose half my crop like last year, just in case.

Just re reading my earlier post about the soil I used. These were not the ones that got the super soil-ish recipe. All this soil is a product from a local producer( Dean Innovations).....the product is called 'White lightning' Just wanted to clear that up :)
