pooping in the compost

I got a pretty sweet compost barrel of all kinds of stuff brewing up, i got salmon, turkeys chickens a gang of apples, like 200+ a gang of grass soil etc and a whole bunch of other stuff. I even bought a few boxes of night crawlers and threw them in there and a bunch of other worms I caught also so they will just eat and shit. I was wondering and this is a dead serious question like no joking...would it be ok for a human to go number "2" into my compost and mix it up then use it in my garden next year?

In all seriousness, it's not a good idea. Humans put a lot of crap in their bodies, and that crap all comes out in the crap. Also you could pass viruses and stuff. It's been a while since I took a soil science class, but they did say that people poop on compost is a bad idea. Same with cat poop.

Hey thanks! I was just curious, because i've used bat shit in the past so I figured why not use human shit! Now what if I was a vegan and ate nothing but plants like lettuce and bread

I would hate to have to handle my compost pile with rubber gloves. People poople contains some nasty pathogens, and it might be weeks or months before the compost is bacteriologically "clean". cn

human excrement is definitely compostable if the pile frequently gets hot enough to kill the bacteria. I'd let the pile sit for a couple years just to be safe.
