Pods don't fit in Aerogarden, will it work?

Hi,

I bought a 2nd hand aerogarden, it didn't come with anything other than the aerogarden itself so I ordered a grow anything kit off amazon. The pods that came don't seem to fit:



They fit in the centre holes but stick out per the image, they don't fit in the outer holes at all but would fit if I trimmed them down a bit. Having never seen the aerogarden in action Im unsure if this is going to work.

My main concern is that the trickle of water isn't going to effectively wet the sponge since there doesn't seem to be a hole in the side of the pod for the water to get in. The only way I could see it working is the trickle could run down the outside of the pod and hit the sponge lower down wetting the hole thing?

Is this going to work for rooting clones or should I make my own ghetto pods.
