about 18 inches, but its in a cool tube, so not much heat coming off. I have about 95% success, i don't use a dome. Takes about 3 weeks to get my clones going good.

i use a cool tube too, but i heard on here that too much light can kill clones so i thought 400w may be a bit heavy for clones
are you using aero because 3 weeks seems along time for aero

Yeah, well the sun is about like having a 1000 watt light no cool tube 3 feet away and I see plenty of little tiny plants come through that just fine, a 400 watt isn't too much light. I am using aero and 3 weeks is in the normal time range for clones to develop foot long root systems. They can show root bumps at 5 days, but I make sure they are growing good before I transplant to the bigger lights. I don't think the light is your problem.

jmo but 400w for 12 clones is overkill. A simple floro shop light with a cpl 4' brite wht tubes is plenty. No need to burn up extra cash on the electric bill with 400w plus a fan for the cooltube. I run 2 x 80 site aero cloners and use nothing but cfls and have roots in 7 days and there ready to go into the flower room in 14-21 days

ok i get you about waiting to transplanting them nice one, but the point you made about the sun is not valid because cloning is not a natural process a small plant that started as seed and has grown in the sun naturally is not the same a clone that has been tampered with cut off another plant and forced to reroot
