Hi Guys,

Please help me decide. First time grower here...

I have an Apollo grow tent 36" x 20" x 62"

Going to grow 2 autos in 3 gal pots inside.

Debating between:

-Galaxy Hydro 600w LED Full Spectrum
OR
-Viparspectra 450W LED Full Spectrum (this one has Veg and Bloom switch options)

What are your guys thoughts?

I would love to have the Vipar with the veg and bloom switch options, but should I go with the higher wattage Galaxy hydro? They are both the same price.

Thanks

You're looking at the cheapest leds there are. HID lighting is more efficient.

They will both work ok, the MEIZHI lights are cheap too and work ok for me.
I can't understand why people think you need a 1000+$ light to grow two plants. I know I wouldn't do that. Not at the very beginning of a growing hobby. And with 2 or 3 plants, that's all that is. Sure, if you're on grow 6 or 7 and have a dozen plants and sell most your crop to make money, then I'd think about it.

This is nothing personal, just MHO. If I would buy everything top of the line to grow two autos, I might as well keep buying my smoke.
I spent maybe 1200$ in my setup and I'll have that saved first harvest by not having to buy 200$/ounce in the street.
To me, that makes sense.

I haven't used the galaxy hydro before but I have been using the Mars Hydro LEDs and those work really well. And are around the same price I believe. I'm using 1 300W LED per 2 plants and am getting great results.

I attached some shots of the 4 blue dreams I am currently growing under 2 Mars Hydros

109.99 thinking about getting one myself for a veg light. They have the 600w version for $10 more. I dont think it has the switches tho.
My 600 and 900 doesn't have the switches, the new ones all do but I would look closely to make sure you're not gettingthe older model.
My 600 was less than 200$ and my 900 was less than 300$.
They both work fine for me and what I'm doing. Then again, I got nothing to compare with.

I'm pretty sure the 450w has the switches. 600w I believe is the older model since price is so close and i don't think it has the switches. Probably get the 450 not setting up a big veg space.

I too am getting ready for my first go at growing. Can anybody recommend the best LED grow lights? I'm not too worried about price, more so the quality and longevity of the lights.

Thanks in advance.

Haha, rgr that MadButcher ;)

I'll try and narrow it down some.

Any thoughts on:
K5xl1000 from .kindledgrowlights.
Mars Pro from .ledgrowlightsdepot.
Baylight from .solarledalliance.
Blackdog Phytomax from .ledgrowlightsdepot.

So far I've been looking at these.

Going to be growing in a 5x8 room, well ventilated.

All I can tell you is this...
At that size of growroom id probably go with a few smaller lights instead of 1 or 2 big ones. But that's just me.

For a small grow you are on the right track, I switched to LEDs and love them. I started small like you and went with a cheaper lower watt LED that worked fine for a few grows and only 2 plants. I decided to start growing a few more plants each time, bought a 4' x 4' tent and better higher watt LED. Now I use my small cabinet with the lower watt LED for seedlings or clones and then move them to the larger tent.

Growing is similar to owning a boat, with a boat you get what's call "2 foot-itis" which is you wish you had a boat 2 foot longer. Once you start with 2 plants and as you learn, you always figure that adding 2 more would be better.

I say go a little cheaper to start with and then upgrade if you decide to add more plants or larger room to your grow.

That's exactly my point of view!

Thanks guys so much for all the info. I looked at all 3 Lordhooha and they all seemed pretty decent, but I compared them to the Growpad from .solarledalliance. and the growpad seems to blow them all away when it comes to wattage, 10 year light loss warranty, made in america and a high ppfd. all the other fixtures ive looked at are very high in wattage for an LED it seems , especially compared to .solarledalliance's. lights.

I was about to pull the trigger on a mars hydro, but i think ill give the Growpad a go. And going with Madbutcher and Fish Weed's advice I'll start with 2 of them and wait until i get the 2 "foot-itis" hehe :)

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it goes down the road!

Update:

So I changed my mind on the Growpads and went with 2 Growbars from .solarledalliance. Looks like they're having a holiday sale so decided to grab them and save some money. Thanks again everyone and I'll let you know how it goes!
