Please help, pictures included... Reading the threads confused the hell out of me!

I've got brown/rust patches on some leaves in 2 out of 4 of my white widows. I've read the threads and most have left me confused. There are too many different answers, I was hoping that starting this thread could help me out.

1) PICTURE OF PLANT: see below
2) Growing indoor, hydro, drip system
3) Watering schedule : 6 times a day for 15mins during light hours (drip system)
4) Growing Medium: rockwool in hydroton
5) What stage of growth
: 10 days into veg
6) Lights: 400w Metal Halide
7) Nutrients: Full strength Flora 3-part series, rhizotonic, diamond nectar, ataclean.
8) PH 6-6.5

They were doing great until yesterday morning. The only different thing that happened yesterday was that I foliar sprayed them with "atami b'cuzz" to strenghten the plants natural defenses against insects etc..

What the hell is going on? It destroyed my baby's first true marijuana leaves. It may spread. I flushed the plants and stopped the feeding schedule. But I'm really not sure what it could be. Two other plants are healthy and they have the same feeding/lighting schedule.

Any help would be appreciated :leaf:

looks like nutrient burn. ease off a little and see if it still spreads. I can almost guarantee it.

also be careful with foliar feeding. Do it only right before the sun comes out. Any sun on the leaves will also burn them..

Wow, that was a quick response. Thanks Milesmkd. "Ease off a little" meaning stop the feeding schedule? Should I just water them with plain water for a week or so? Sorry for being melodramatic, it is my first grow.

Your pH for a hydro grow should be between 5.5 and 6.0

P.S. are the tips of your leaves yellow? I didn't see any, thus I'm not sure it's nute burn.... I think it's a pH problem

that would be your best bet, but also as lt. dan said double check your ph. happy growings, pm me if u have any further questions.

No, leaves are a nice green, apart for these ugly spots... I'll try to lower the PH once I start feeding them again. It's strange that it only hit my 2 most beautiful plants :cuss:

Sorry to hear about your girls.

I've read a few posts with mixed views about spray bottle feeding........... not needed in hydro after the seedling stage.............. don't do while HID lights are on........ lights may burn leaves that are still wet...... etc. and so on. I'm too new to know for sure ( I'm 28 days into flower, 1st grow, White widow, LSD, Blueberry Gum)

Good luck with your grow,

pH does not have as big of an effect as people think. Most nutrients contain a pH buffer that will fix your pH fairly accurately. I would go with lowering the nutes for a min and see what that does. I run 5 gal bubble buckets, and I haven't checked my pH in months. My bud is the best bud around...so I must be doing something right. Even Riddleme says that people who don't have much experience like to yell about pH, but having an actual pH problem is actually very rare.

I just realized that I did something STUPID for 2 weeks in a row. I don't have a ppm meter so I do a reservoir change every week. WELL, I just checked the doses and I put in 30ml of 3part flora series instead of 20ml. And I did this 2 weeks in a row. They were fine the first week, maybe it takes a few days for an overdose to be apparent? So there is definitely more nutes than they care for...I'm surprised that 10ml make that much of a difference though (if that's the problem).

Anyway, apart from that, I'm going to take all your great advice into consideration (THANKS) and gradually change a few things. When my plants are unhappy, I'm unhappy.

Did you use the recommended amount on the foliar spray application? Sometimes they will have soil app, and foliar app separately, so that may be it. Also, when I am foliar feeding, I usually go at least 1/2 the recommended amount or less, so as not to stress the plant. Good luck to you, they will recover with time.

The foliar spray is for hydro. They said to dilute 1-3ml and I diluted 1ml. But I did foliar spray them under the heat of the MH lamps. And I now know that the lights were too close because my two healthy plants are showing slight heat burn (some of the edges of the leaves are curling upwards).

I thought I had one problem but apparently I've got many. I guess they are all linked.

So I've:
1) lowered the PH to 5-5.5
2) I've diluted the nutrients with alot of water to feed the healthy plants
3) I'm just feeding water to the ones with rusty spots for now
4) no more foliar spray
5) Reduced watering schedule from 6 to 5 times a day
6) I raised the lights

Just trying to combine all the advice I got because one problem seems to lead to another.

Looks like you're back on track.

I've been told pH for hydro should be between 5.5-6.0

LOL, you are the most brutal weed assassin! Only 2 leaves had this problem and after I listened to everyone's advice, I had to ask for more help on how to slow down their growth. They are trying to take over the world, I had to slow down their growth. Since then, they've all got pre-flowers and I got some great clones off them.

If there's one thing I learnt, it's that weed is tough. I know because earlier on in my grow, I pulled the weakest plant out (really weak) and I've kept it aside as a lab rat. I practice everything on it before I move on to my other plants. This plant is still alive after all the experiments I've sujected it to, poor thing.
