Please Help!!! how to keep plant short????

whats up folks... im obviously a noob and i am growing 5 lowryder... i also have a couple bagseeds sprouted...

My questio: I need to keep the bagseed short for this indoor grow.... can I achieve this by topping them alot? How would I keep the plant short yet still bud good? thanks peace

One way to keep your plant short is to keep the veg time short.

A plant doubles to triples in size during the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. So, if your grow space were lets say 100 cm tall, then you would want to turn the light cycle to 12/12 when the plant is anywhere from 30-50 cm tall.

Topping, LST, and Fimming are also other ways to keep a plant short.

The GROWFAQ describes these methods much better than i can.

i flowerd at 10 inches, now at 6 weeks flowering and they grew 8 more inches.

trimming tops reduces height but widens the plant, not much help with a short area if the area isnt wide either, I dunno your setup. Also depends on your lights. HPS and fluros can stretch the plants a bit ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS cfl'S DO A GOOD JOB AT KEEPING THEM SHORT. bEST IDEA would be to use MH when in veg and going to HPS when flowering

Lowryder dont get no bigger than 20 inches! How short do you want it????

And all you guys do realize that if he is growing lowryder then there is no 12/12. It is an autoflowering plant that flowerers on its own no matter how much light it gets. Read up on it!

Top and LST would be my vote.

i started tyeing my plants down to horizontal when they were 12in 3 weeks in to flower they are about 24in long but only 10in tall right now. worked out nicely.

you should start to tie them down gentle when they get bigger. they will go sideways most of the time if you do it right. hope this helps.

I say top the plant, then LST it... and i thought lowryder was one of those strains that doesn't need 12/12 to flower, but i could be wrong... goodluck growin!

It only tops out at about 20-24"! what are you looking for, pot Bonsai trees?
I could understand a tall sativa being topped or Scrogged but Lowrider was bred for small stealth areas when you do0n't have room for trees, like a closet shelf or something similar.

LST - Acronym for Low-Stress Training, the technique of manipulating the branches in order to reduce plant height, expose certain branches to light, and/or distribute hormones to lower branches of the plant to encourage larger buds.

There is a whole list of terms stickyd in the Newbie Central section, reading a lot of the newbie stuff and faq really helps cut down on question asking, and it makes you look like you kinda know what your talking about. Research is key when learning about this stuff.
