A perfect room is a non vented room, this being said its going to cost more that just going with
A in and out to control heat and odor. Things you will need to go sealed 1# a Ac unit 2# dehumidifier
3# c02 gen 4# coool tubes 5# a c02 monitor 6# a good scrubber, these are the basics of what you
Are going to need to go sealed
i can seal a room and i grow inside of a tent...how do i do it though with the AC and not be pulling air in from outside or bringing in fresh air?

There are ac unit that the main part of the ac unit is complety outside the room and
Ac hoses go through the wall to a wall mount unit and blow cold air with no in or out,
The main part of the ac unit can be anywhere you want it. Look into sanyo ac units

i still dont understand how you can grow without bringing in fresh air, if you keep using the same air over and over how does that work? why do people advise to circulate fresh air as much as possible?

thanks to all helping here +rep on the way

very nice i understand it a little better, thanks.

but in a sealed room are plants themselves providing enough oxygen/fresh air? and do you need to use CO2 in a sealed environment?

with me having a tent inside a room i can see myself putting a AC unit inside of the room and my tent will stay cool....but do portable AC units need to have hoses that leave or pump in.out of the room? didn't think they just sit in the room with no connection outside....

also the air inside of the room would keep circulating through the tent but the main room is completely sealed, given window and door leaks....

Solarguy I do not use a ac in my room. I have a 10" passive intake hole in the lower part of my room with a damper in it ( meaning it swings open when the exhaust is going and it pulls enough air to open it ). Basically it works the same as a dryer vent. I also have a filter to cover the whole so I dont let bugs and dust and other trash in. Than I have my carbon --> to my 6" air cooled hood --> my 6" 400cfm fan --> vented out of the room. All my ducting is isolated and I have a mattress topper to quite down the fan. Durring the veg I run the light 18 hours a day and my plants are within a foot of the light and the temp there never makes it over 76 degrees. So far I havent had any problems with humidity or over heating or cooling. Hope I helped out some what

The ONLY time you should have a sealed room is if you are adding CO2. If you aren't providing CO2, you need to vent, as the plants will use up the available CO2 in the room quickly, and the air needs to be replenished.

the video was great, no such thing as too much air circulation if there is no co2 involved since normal fresh has very low ppm....

next grow i will do co2, thanks to all!

sooooooo today when picking up some new soil, FFOF, i heard this today and since i am starting a new grow i wanted some input from some pros....

is it ok to turn off my exhaust ventilation during the dark cycle? i was told from the dude at the grow store that plants give out co2 at night and it is perfectly fine leave the exhaust off and infact its a waste of good co2 if you dont....any truth here? experts please respond! +rep
i understand leaving fans on will prvent mold but what about exhaust? any benefit to leaving it on or turning it off? are plants using co2 at night? if not what are they using?

...actually low humidity prevents mold.

but what about exhaust??any benefit to leaving it on or turning it off? ?
...yes, if you have constant exaust you have constant air exchange = low humidity, and a constant 300-500 ppm of co2

are plants using co2 at night? if not what are they using?
...plants need co2 to photosynthesize. Plants do not photosynthesize while they sleep...

...to achieve the perfect conditions ( co2 @1500 ppm while light are on, and humidity @ 40%-60% constantly ) takes alot of bells and whistles....running your exaust constantly is much easier, and cheaper. Good luck.
