Please advise, how long left of flowering?

This is 6 weeks into flowering already, the buds are not that big, any tips on making them grow bigger? It's under 3x45w CFLs. How long do you think there's left to grow it? Also, any chance you could guess the strain? This is my first grow, so don't be hard on me please. I had two plants, but one had to be cut down because it started growing too many bananas. I have to pull off some balls at the very bottom of this one aswell, but it's just the very bottom and it's about 5-10 every 3 days. Please give me some advice on this.

I would say it sativa dominate, but as to the strain,, ?
Also, what is 5-10 every 3 days? Do you mean you pulling 5-10 balls off every 3 days or so?

yes, it's growing a few balls at the very bottom, i have to pull off 5 to 10 every 3 days. Is this really bad? any way to stop it?

It def looks like a Sativa strain so you'll have to be patient with her to get the proper rewards from her. Dont be too hasty now
You should bounce on over to Radio Shack and tell the little nerd behind the counter you want the $12.00 lighted scope. With this you can take a look at your trichs to really know when its ready.
If its your first grow, its an excellent job, looks great ! Congrats !

I think it is a little late to increase yield much, but, more light would improve bud size/yield. HPS...

look into some training methods for your next grow, topping, LST, etc. so you can use your lights more efficiently.

Gutted, well as long as you stay on top of them i dont see why it should be a problem, i have had a plant produce some balls and just did what you are doing and she was a fine.


depending on your R.H and temps you could mist the balls to ensure the pollen is ineffective, but apart from what your doing theres only a few other things you could do. And they would probably just slow down the flower/ripening.


Its not really bad,but not really good. You could spray somthing, like cordial sliver, i think, on those balls or ball sites to change them but it really woulda needed to of been done,like at the start of flower. And has to be repeated at least 3 times if i remember right.


If you wanted some fem seeds you could sprinkle a ball on a lower branch for some fem seeds, but as your not sure why she hermied you would run the risk of having this happen to all the seeds. Anyhow thats abit off what your asking.

here is a quick update of the grow, already two weeks since last post, do you think its doing good? haven't noticed a significant swelling of the buds, but compared to the pictures 2 weeks ago it did grow a little bigger. i have changed the dark period for the plants from 12 to 10 hours a week ago, do you think it was the right decision? i think theres still at least two weeks of wait till harvest, right? the growth of the balls at the bottom has strangely disappeared aswell.

also, do you think its worth to add a few more 30 watt cfls at the moment?

i would give a week of flushing and get her down if balls are coming,you dont want them buds swelling up with seeds

check the buds,make sure theres not seeds starting in the calaxes

ps it looks over watered in 1 of them pics,but if youve kept seeds at bay thats a good job for your first!,you could of got a much bigger yield in a bigger pot,what size is that pot?10-13 litre?

how do you notice its over watered? the pot is 13± litre i guess. also how do I tell if it's growing seeds? can anyone hook me up with some pictures of how different do the buds look when they grow seed, what if it does? does it change the harvest time?

I agree with this. You need more light. CFL's can and do work but you need to realize you won;t pull as much from them as a proper light or a totally enclosed CFL grow. I have done both. Get more light, bottomline.

Nope, a few more 30w CFL's at this point won't do much.

Still at least 3-4 wks I reckon.

almost 10 weeks of flowering, buds don't seem getting bigger, maybe i'm getting too impatient. do you think changing a light cycle from 12/12 to 10/14 could have caused slow growing of buds? i did change it two weeks ago.

You need to stop changing your light times thats probably y u have bananas growing in the first place. Never mess with the light schedule after u start bud any changes or interruptions can cause it to hermy. Ive never had a seed in my bud except the last crop 5 popped out cuz my dad kept going in my room. Trust me it matters and can ruin all your hard work.

Nice grow considering you are only using CFL's.....definitely a Sativa strain. Be patient. Good job.

changing it back might cause more trouble? right? i better not do this, unless someone can assure it is safe.

its hard to tell for a few reasons. First it is strain dependent, some sats will finish in 9 ,some 12.. Second with a cfl grow, cfl buds will mature different to hps. You won't get them same swell on the buds. The best way to know is to either know the specifics of the strain ,ie follow the breeder recommendations, or get a loup and check the trics..
