Hi all Plasma is here and i just wanted to get everyone's opinions on this new technology.Its either going to be LED or plasma for me.I need a new light, one that wont make me sweat.I have a feeling that in the near future we will all be rocking a plasma LED hybrid combo.

A company called Chameleon grow systems actually already has a LED plasma out.They have 3 units out 1,2 only use the Plasma bulb,but the 3rd and most expensive unit actually use plasma and RED/Orange LEDs.If the plasma light on its own is full spectrum why do they need the LEDs?

A few people are catching on. Everyone knows this stuff is good for aquarium because of the near sun like spectrum and outrageous PAR levels. LED combinations are misguided as the plasma will still need to be kept at somewhat of a height to allow for an appropriately sized floor plan.

Given the slightly lower intensity I'd imagine a SOG, Scrog, or well LST'd plants would be best under these lamps to keep the canopy even.

I'm not ready for $1,000 on untested technology, but maybe someone out there is and we can all benefit. I've been pondering building my own from plasma television parts, all you really need is a ballast and a bulb then rig up a heat sink and you're good to go. A homemade 70w system could be done for $350, it'd offset a 250w for sure, good for a single plant maybe to test plasma out for yourself at a reasonable scale. Google DIY luxim plasma lighting and you'll find the directions I'm referring too among the links.

Thanks Snow for the reply and the information.I have finished reading the light testers review of the Gravita, Lumatek ,Plasma light witch uses the Lumix light and all of their testing led to the same out come with LED or on its own.The final word is that the plasma spectrum is great for vegging but not good for flowering.To get good flowering results at this time they are having to run it with a HPS.So its a very expensive alternative to MH not a HPS replacement as of yet.

they are damn pricey but the light is the closet to our actual sun. IT is amazing. if someone can post where you can buy one please do. I have been looking for them but it was about 6 months ago. I REALLY WANT ONE. you can have one bulb and it will replace 2-3 1000watt systems. it is amazing

Actually right now they are only equal to about a 400w,and forget at the moment using them for Blooming just a very expensive alternative to Metal Halide.Their are two links above in my first post showing where they are available.Until they coat the bulb with more RED they are only good for vegging.I really don't know about the 7k light up their.Lumatek and Gravita tested the same setup a year ago and its not on the market!

I'm seeing a ton of reports on a new Sulphur Plasma light, anyone have details? By Chameleongrowsystems.com. Anyone with feedback on them? I am looking for someone who has the 1300 bucks, who paid for it and can tell me from experience. Not conjecture and bashing please. If you don't have experience don't respond.

too expensive. When the prices dip by like 50% then I'd like to use it. I'm interested in some side by side comparisons though.

Way too high. I went directly to luxim and got my plasma for $700. We got to pick what we wanted in it (got a newer updated bulb that has enhanced red). A link to my journal is in my sig.

So do you guys think the sun needs more red to bloom like your hps? IMO full spectrum produces better plants and better resins. Plus you can see and read the plants better. I'd love a plasma to play with but they are still way expensive its true.
