I'm wanting to grow outdoors this summer, but I'll have to be gone from mid June to late July. Will the plants die in that time or will they have to be watered?

Any ideas are welcome... thnks

Umm, im not sure but there has to be some way possible to have them make it that long. Plants in the wild dont get there bowl of nutes with a glass of water everyday. See if you can get one of your friends to put one of those water while your not home things in every few weeks.

If its in a pot, just transplant directly into the ground, itll survive unless your in a very arid enviroment.

You need to do some research in guerilla/outdoor growing... The search feature is your best friend.

I have been doing quite a bit of research... couldn't find much on this topic, which is why I posted the thread... I understand I have a low post count, but this was my last resort

yeah i was wondering the same thing, except if i could water it like once a week. its on my grandma's farm and it's near a pond out of site from anyone, so my cover would be to go there once a week to fish at the pond. i think going more than once would look suspicious

Ok. Will give this a try. Have read a bit about those things, any suggestions on where to get them?
just the usual market shop or hardware in the plant supples theyre are one of the best things u will ever buy (they expand to like 10 or 15 times there size so take a few and wet them first and see how many u think u will need due to the sweelling of them

Ok. Sounds easy enough, but I have one more question... Do I mix them in with the soil or should I put them at the bottom or somewhere else?

man ur plants should be fine unless ur in a real dry place. I know my friends plant theres in spring and dont go back till harvest. to avoid making trails or being caught with the crop. If you can also make sure its on a hill sloping south if your in the northern hemisphere. or if its somewut near your house u can make a system to water it. pm me if ur interested in it.

No way! That's impossible to leave a plant outdoors for two months in the middle of the summer and expect it to live, regardless of the size of the pot and the moisture crystals.

I'd say with a gang of those water crystals and some mulch around the base of the plant to slow down evaporation you might be ok. Worth a try anyway. I'd put the plants into the ground and not a pot tho'. Those crystals can be bought at wal-mart.

I'm getting mixed signals here, but I'm going to try it anyway. I guess I'll just have to report back to you guys at the end of the summer.

Cool, I'll probably just throw some crystals about 1' into the ground or so and then put some others on top covered by mulch. Hope that will work

just stop and think about it. It's going to be in the 90's, 45 days is a long time to go without water. Look at FDD's plants I think he waters them daily or even twice a day.
