any one have any luck planting seeds straight in the soil??? i want to leave seeds in cup of water for 24 hr then
sweat them out by just planting in soil after 24h in the water then putting plastic wrap over cups till they pop out of soil , is this just as good as paper towl...
??and will leaving my led grow light on them hurt seeds under dirt, i do not put seeds far under soil at all so i say a little light can still reach seedlings

It will help keep the medium from going dry but if you forget to remove the plastic at a certain time this could have adverse effects for a young plant.

The method you're describing is considered the "greenhouse" method. It worked well for me, 100% germ rate.
yea some guy had a 20 m video on it called it sweating them out or greenhouse im going to try it not had luck with paper t this time around.... but ill be damn if sickmeds and herbies both did not replace seeds wasted also sent me 6 pinapple chunk seeds free i was like wtf hell yea

I probably watched that video. I don't like the paper towel method which is why I found out about this method as you have. I let the plastic stay on until the first true leaves were open, poked a few holes as you stated once it first popped up out of the soil to start letting it breathe.

Humidity domes are only bad if you don't do it right. Plants also die if one forgets to water them. All the same. I do all my cloning in a cloning bin(mini-greenhouse) and seeds are started using a very small piece of rockwool in a hydroton/lava rock F&D table set on 12/12.

yea what im going to do... every body that talks about it says they have 100% success rate unless seed is just bad

you can skip the soaking stage before putting into soil. just plant it into your soil which is damp (but not dripping wet), then just spray it a couple times of day to keep it from drying out on top until it sprouts. works in 4 days every time (if it's a good seed). no plastic wrap or dome needed.

I always have 100% success. This time i had better than 100%, i had like 115%. My method is simple. Soak the seeds for 12 hrs. Then put them into moistened dirt about a quarter inch, cover them over. Put them in a dark spot that gets air and dont open the door for 48 hrs. Make damn sure the temps are between 78-81 degrees. This is the only and most important part. 48 hrs later most of them will have sprouted. If they havent just put them back into the dark and check em every six hours. They should all be up in three days but the odd one likes to make you wait. Just take em out of the dark and put them under the light now.
I usually use seedling starter mix because theres not much for nutrients but more importantly is light weight stuff so the plants can get through it easily. Sometimes i use ffof mixed with a soiless blend at 50/50. But this time i used just ffof, no pearlite added. And had no problems. One seed even popped twins. Second time ive had twins. Good times.

i think the soaking is just to make sure seed gets moist evenly on the in side and makes them sprout faster but i may be wrong

Its how its done in nature apart from the greenhouse, bag over the top tried it but the paper towel method seems to be faster

Last time i had it happened the two babies were off and running right outta the gate. Just as tall as the others. This time theyre kinda small, the leader at first has now been overtaken by the smaller one so i dont know what im going to do with the twins. Ill probably run em through. I tried on the last ones but they ended up being males. These are fem beans this time so im hoping theyre females. Im thinking about just training them apart and then maybe topping them so i can train them a little easier. Ill probably take a couple clones off of each one just incase one is bomb and one sucks. Its a gamble.

No ya right it help's in getting the shell of the seed to soak in water faster, than just in soil

But i never have soaked a seed just in water in a cup,i all ways do it the clam method, seed's on damp paper towel with two small saucer's one on top one on bottom then into a sealer bag for 24 hour to keep humidity high,in a dark place.

Don't rush the seed's they might take 1 day they may take 5 but if they have not split after 5 days then i would still leave em ,but i have never had one not split in 4/5 day normally after 2 days you get the seed split then few more days for tap root to get to decent size.

I'm very funny about seedling's and after about 2 week of vegging i select the front runner's out and give the others away or ditch

doesn't work. In nature the wild Rapid rioters live in symbiosis with the weed plants nurturing their seeds as they fall. In return the weed plant rains down Advanced nutrients feeding the rapid rooters and allowing them to multiply. Don't fuck with nature.
