Planting a long seedling's stem 1/2 way under ground?

I have a Kandy Kush seedling that shot out of the ground to 4" tall in about 12 hours. Never seen anything like it, always been able to keep them from stretching before.
Can I plant the stem half way down in the ground ... like a tomato plant? :eyesmoke: 'preciate it

You can bury them a little deeper, just avoid watering right at the base of the stalk. This will also help encourage the roots to grow outward in search of water.

Kush4us go away if you don't have solid info to give. Geezus.

Yes you can bury your stems and yes it helps the plant and yes most of us do this and those who don't should.

If any of my plants get a little too leggy (seedlings or stretched out clones), I just bury an extra inch or two with each transplant. They will actually grow new roots from the sides of the main stalk after its burried. More roots can never be a bad thing.

i just transplanted some seedlings that stretched. wasnt sure if i could bury them deeper or not so i only did 1 of them. the rest of them are on thier 2nd set of leaves now. the 1 i buried deeper hasnt did anything since the transplant.

does burying them deeper shock them in any way????

the transplant shocked them. i use party cups for germination, only fill 3/4 loosely, once germed n up for week or so i add more pro-mix.works out perfect for me...peace

well if it was just the transplant that shocked them i would figure ALL of them would be shocked, not just the ONE that i buried half the stem.

wow, i am telling you, telling you what i am seeing with my own 2 eyes. but i'm asking what is going on. let me re-ask my question for you.

when transplanting a seedling half way up it's stem, does that send it into shock more so than just the transplant??

the seedlings that still have a 2" stem showing sprouted 2nd leaves the next day. the seedling with only 1" of stem out of the dirt has done nothing.

2" isn't that bad. I would have just waited it out and maybe planted a little deeper at the next transplant, if I felt it would help. I've never had any problems with it. Maybe that just happened to be a weak seedling?

could have been. i mean no real way to tell, but it just seems funny how that one was the only one to react like that.
