Pistil question

I have a grow that is getting near harvest time. There are still tons of white pistils, but I'm starting to see maybe one or 2 trichs turnin amber. Is this normal? Do all the pistils have to be shriviled? if I get the ratio I want in cloudy/amber, is it okay if there is still 50% white pistils?

Question: Did you screw up? NEVER will you get amber [which equals degraded] if your plant is popping out new white pistils/hairs ... CHECKING FOR AMBER TRICS BEFORE YOUR PLANT STOPS making hairs is a waste of time... now I am not trying to tell you how to waste your time...
NO it is not "OK"... why would you want to harvest your plant weeks before it is ready?
Growing MJ is an art... get it?
Your plant will tell you when it is done...
Do you even know what an amber tric looks like?

somone else just explained to me that the thc don't degrade when amber, but it increases the CBD ratio.

Okay man, chill out. It looks like one or two. The head of the trich begins to look less and less attached to the stalk as it ages, and the color changes to amber...so yes. I cannot take a clear pic of it with the cam. But I obviously see a few trichs with the color change seeming to be a light amber. I wasn't "checking for" amber, I was just checking the overall health of the plant. I wasn't EXPECTING to see amber trichs, that's why I posted this question. So thanks.

I honestly have no clue. This is my 2nd grow, and first with autos. So I'm not a good person to ask lol
your plants are damn good for a 2nd grow, most ppl (including me) usually over baby there plants there first couple grows and end up disturbing them.

Just a heads up.. Autos don't necessarily ever get amber trichs.. Maybe, maybe not. More likely not, according to people more experienced than me. Go by breeder grow times, pistil color and trich cloudy/clear I think.. Best of luck..

I'm having same issue. 8 weeks from seed and breeder says 9-10 weeks from seed till harvest, but I have all orange pistils.. It's a guessing game at this point.

Well, I think I'm going to wait another week. The colas are jam packed with pistils, and if I actually wait for them all to turn orange, I think I'd be over a week or so of suggested grow time. Just have to call it as I see it I guess.

so generally if you like couchlocking high, autos are not a good idea?

I think they will still couch lock you if timed correctly. I think the new autos have decent medical benefits. The trichomes turning amber may be somewhat of a myth according to what I have read. Not all plants have this characteristic..

There is another forum geared solely towards autos. They may be of some help.. Also this article is pretty enlightening...

Oh wow. Just looked at pics. Those are very white. Could just be the strain. What strain is it?
My Northern Light auto had very white and long pistils for a long time, but now they are mostly orange..

According to this article: The thing about amber trichomes, is that true amber trichomes only develop in some phenotypes and only with very high potency types!
