I don't know what it is but sometimes if you leave a little water sitting around it reduces into this pinkish slime. I think I first noticed it happening in a friend's bird cage when she didn't clean or refill the water dish nearly often enough. I'd guess it's some sort of bacteria as Thor said so whatever you hydro people use to kill germs should clear it right up.

Well I change the reservoir every week.. I dump out all the water, clean it out in the tub with some warm water and feed em weekly.
Should I be changing more often?

cold water. warm water is wear bacteria bred like mofo's (that pink shit!).

Try to cool off your water temps, and make sure no light goes into your container

Well I always rinse with warm water and rub the tub's inside with my hands (wow that sounds weird) to get all the salt build up out. Then I usually rinse with cold water to make the res a little colder.
I completely covered my lids with some reflectix tape so I'm pretty sure no light is going in. I used 1 of these containers for 2 plants. I'm pretty sure that the water temperature was a little higher than it is this grow.

I remember that the netpot holes I made were actually a little too big, so I duck taped the netpots to the lid from the inside, where the water splashes up. Could that possibly have anything to do with it?
And what do you suggest I do for now? What could those bacteria exactly be doing right now?

Also one really weird thing is.. when I finished the first reservoir, I left the water running in the tub - with the little drain plug in the tub - so the tub filled up. When I came back with the other reservoir.. I found some kind of green grasshoper in there.. I'm not sure where I first saw it though.. maybe it was in the 2nd container and as I brought it in, it jumped into the tub? Maybe it came out of the tub some how? Maybe it was just there... but can that shit grow in a reservoir possibly? lol sounds so dumb, but maybe it might have something to do with it. Anyways... let me know what you guys think
