what kind of ballast, what kind of bulb, and what kind of reflector? i got a mag. n those are pretty cheep compared to the digi's. i also got cooltubes as my reflector n there also pretty cheep. mine came with a plantmax bulb, if your friend got the eye hortalux, he would of spent a cool chunk of change.
You may want to take a look at plasma/induction lighting puts hps to shame honestly also its nice to see someone who uses an HPS compliment the fact that LED can produce. Honestly petey my 240w panel is blowing my 400w HPS out of the water right now. So badly its not even funny and i only paid 90 more bucks for the LED ( i had the worlds crappiest 400w HPS with a good bulb in it. thing got so damn hot) small price to pay for heat and power reduction IMO. Prices have come way down on quality LED's now so you can get good ones for fairly cheap so large operations with them are making more sense now. If i was using a mag ballast that was hps i would want to be running CMH its just too bad they only make em up to 400w thats why i like plasma/induction if your still into using HID lighting because 40w of it is equal to about 200w hps or something like that and heat output is way lower than HPS too.
You tellin me you dont have 500 bucks to spend on 2 LED's im not trying to start a fight over LED tech here but im just sayin im pullin down an elbow a month conservatively on the average usually closer to 2 with 500 bucks worth of LED. Just sayin it can be done with SOG or SCROG and 2 flower cabs. I have two tables set up right now.if i had the cash to set up a proper LED flower room that could supply me and my roommate with 1 1/2 oz a week each i would go for an LED garden, but i don't. i also have a couple ppl that depend on meds from me each month, so i need to have a high production. LED's are great for smaller gardens for personal production, but i need to be hitting 1 1/2+ lbs a month to make sure theres enough to go around.

i would greatly appreciate a link to you lb+ a month LED set up. i'm very much interested in it. i will agree that LED's have come a long way, but i have yet to see a LED grow pull off a lb+. also a link to your LED panel wold be nice too.
i completely understand that man unfortunately due to partner issues (hes super sketchy about pictures) no pics but you can ask around there are quite a few people using this LED. Stay safe and make sure you can get what you need but spending 290 bucks as a test cant hurt and if you can pull close to a LB with the light i will show you you should be fine.
