I just figured I'd share a few pics of what i thought was some cool lookin buds. This is my AK-47 at 10 weeks, i'm getting leaf shoots near the tops of my colas turning bright white! My cel phone camera didn't pick up the white very well and most of my shots didn't turn out at all. These are the few shots that did turn out ok, but these pics don't do any justice to how crazy some of these buds look....

That's most likely the case, I've read about it before but never had it happen.... Either way its cool as hell lol! 1000w HPS, the closest colas are within 8" of the light after the stretch. I wish i had some better pics....

yes you can light bleach your plants. The reason isn't cause of too much lights, its too much light too close to the plants/

Is the bleaching bad? The leaves poking out of the buds that are bleached bright white still look alive and healthy other than the fact that the turned bright white...

Your plants are at the end of their life cycle as evidenced by the "fall colors" you're seeing the leaves change (the purples and such). I've had the bleaching before and it never seemed to hurt the buds any. As a matter of fact, I'm an mmj grower in Colorado, those are the buds I kept for myself thinking others wouldn't want them, but I really feel they turned out to be the best buds I got.

So, I agree with the bud bleaching from the light, and I believe it's the total lumens /sf and not necessarily proximity to the lamps. But I could be wrong there.

*i think thats correct, lumen count not distance.. if your too close to HIDs, it will burn your leafs not bleach it.. too much lumens causes something to change in the pigment(s)?? --i cant remember, sigh

**also, too much ozone will bleach leafs or leave bleached spots.. had this happen when i was using ozone generators improperly.

I understand the normal leaf color change late in flowering from lack of nitrogen in flowering nutes and being near the end of its life cycle. I'm not concerned with those pink/purple/yellow leaves, i'm just talking white leaves. Most of the pics i took didn't turn out, so i only got a couple that really show the white leaves.

The leaves are not dead or dry from too much heat, temps at the top buds see a max of 79-80 degrees.

Too much lumens sounds like a good sign to me, that means i'm feeding my girls all the light they can handle! I'm not seeing any negitive effects on the buds with the bleached leafs poking out, they are still thriving and pushing out fox tails all over. They're all looking like my typical 15-20 grams when dry colas...
