Phresh carbon filters.

Didn't really know where to put this, but figured I would put up my initial impressions on the filters. I bought 2x550cfm, or 6"x24" filters from them. Upon arrival I was skeptical of their weight not being very much. I am 3 weeks in on flowering right now, and just got my filters up and running. The odor was to the point where I think it was leaking outside. My house wreaked of herb when I got home from work. My tent I have is 8x8', I run 4x600, and have both filters running on htgsupply generic 440cfm fans. Anyway, when I was hooking them up I was fairly pissed at the fact that the flange seems to be 6", instead of say 5.75" so you can't fit the duct over the flange. After a bit of thought, I just stuffed the ducting into the flange just so I have it running somewhat. It took very little time to impress. I cannot smell anything until I am right next to the tent. I have my ventilation running into another room where it WILL be hit with more ozone, and then vented to the attic. I am very pleased thus far. It cost $350~ for both filters*, and it is considered more than I need with my space, but that is fine with me. Remember to get bigger cfm filter than your fan is rated for, that is very important.

Anyway:

If the filters last 1year+ I would give them 9/10 stars. I just don't get the flange thing, but it's just another problem to work around as usual in this hobby.

If they only last say 6 months I will be very dissapointed and will try another brand. Mountain air, or Can are on the list.

I could be completely wrong but I always thought your filters should be at or below the total CFMs coming in. you are at 880 cfm with your two fans and 1100 on your filters. If i am correct your filters will pull to much air with little to no resistance resulting in less performance.
again I might be completely wrong but thats how I set up my tent and it works great with zero smell leakage. I also have the Phresh filter brand.

^^^ its better to take longer for the air to get through the filter. if the air blows through the filter too fast, it wont have time to remove all the odor

Yeah, you want it to have long contact time. I think my last setup the filter was too small, and the cfm was too high for the filter. It pulled the air through before it had a chance to filter. After all the bends and what not my fans are probable only pulling 5-600cfm total through both filters, and that is probably best. I still have a little negative pressure so I know air/odor is not escaping.

I had the 6" combo from htg supply, and imo, the filters are total garbage. The fans are fine, but the filters are way too small. I don't know if the carbon is ok, but they totally over rate their product.

ya i luckily have a negative pressure in my tent which is awesome because my tent has stupid little flaps you cant seal shut that would blow stinky air out if it were positive. fan speed controllers work great for matching those cfms if your still getting a little smell. i get NO smell out of my tent

Yep. All I know is there is zero odor as far as I can tell, and that is all that matters. If it does this during harvest I'm golden. I'll get my brother in law over here to test it for me, or a close friend.

I've got a phresh also and works great no smell what so ever, and i was surprised at how light it was too! after 4 months i definitely need a new prefilter though, its dark green

I hooked my phresh filter up last night and the ducting was a pain to get on the flange. I found that if I put the can on the ground and then had the ducting go straight up you can work the ducting on the flange with your finger nails. Start at the part were the wire is poking out of the foil and work it on and SPIN it on the flange at the same time. spinning helped and was the trick for me.

This is assuming your using that foil ducting with the wire going through it.

Yeah, I was going to do that but it was so hard for me to get them hung up in the tent I didn't want to take them back down.... haha.
