Philips Lumiled (China tries to buy)

Basic gist of the story: a Chinese venture capital firm agrees to buy Philips Lumiled division. I thought this was interesting since Luxeons are good, the Philips lightbulb is around 100-110 L/w. (Considerably better than Cree's 88 L/w). I wondered what the Chinese would do to it if (considering how lousy epi-whatever diodes are).

The story is written more about how strange it is for the US government to block the sale of essentially a Dutch business to a Chinese buyer. (Raises some privacy issues LEDs apparently pose.).

But, it ends with this remark by the Chinese buyer which sounds like it was written by smokesara at Mars-Hydro:
Meanwhile, GO Scale Capital chairman Sonny Wu said, “China will inevitably become the leader of the global LED industry because of its industrial ecosystem and competitive advantages in scale and cost.”
