ever wondered why the pharmaceutical companies haven't cornered the market in places like Cali?

why haven't they decided to set up their own grow labs and make it available threw chemists?

or has this happened and I just don't know it?

too risky. it's still illegal federally. if they get caught growing it they would lose a lot of money and lose a lot of face.

well it's a legally grey area. The state of california hasn't said it's legal persay but their stance is, if you are a medical patient, they won't prosecute you. The federal government still says, pot is illegal and will prosecute you, regardless of medical necessity.

ok then... so why doesn't the federal gov simply grab the list of "licenced" med growers and prosecute them federally?

thanks for answering these questions, I'm sure they sound stupid but I still don't quite get it?

well..they can't legally. In order to grab a list they would have to look at the medical records of all the patients and that's a violation of patient rights. it's a really big complicated mess. but even if they did find some loophole to get a list, they couldn't charge the patients because all they would have as evidence would be list saying these people are sick and are eligible for medical marijuana...which isn't a crime.

the government is trying to pretend it doesn't exist. i'm sure pharm companies have secretly researched it somewhere. they are just waiting........

pretty much comes down to fear of the federal government. they are not willing to work with anyone in anyway and continue to destroy innocent peoples lives.

basically the best way to put it is, it's a fight between state level gov' and federal level gov.

however if the federal gov't where to give in and legalize pot, the pharmaceutical companies would be all over it.

yep. and if you think it's expensive now, wait until that happens. prices will go up, quality will go down. they will try and patent strains like they do with everything else. in some respects, legalization could be the worst thing that could ever happen to a stoner, because the government would take control of cultivation and distribution.

hmmm...they do have the space and equipment for it..well i guess you could say farmers everywhere would pick it up.

why would prices go up? the Rx companies would start making it, big tobacco would start making it, and farmers everywhere would start growing pot. the market would be flooded. quality might drop but prices also would drop. but i think the mini growers (us or basically everyone who doesn't have a few dozen acres to grow) would still save the quality.

btw if the US ever did legalize pot, immediately buy all the strain you ever wanted to grow. this doesn't just go for people living in the US but people in canada, uk, australia, all the european countries, everywhere. because once the US legalizes all these companies are gonna start buying seeds. There will be a massive seed shortage for a LONG time. I suspect the US will be like the berlin wall. once we give in all the countries we strong armed into banning pot will give in. which will just perpetuate the seed shortage. basically don't hesitate or you'll be screwed.

Fear true, and the fact they can make a shit load more money testing these fucked up drugs they create to cure all our societies fucked up ailments and diseases. They create these huge facilities and test machines etc. Whan all they have to do is have an empty warehouse/greenhouse and grow as much weed as they can to cure us all! It would make for a happier world too, :peace:
If all the governments realized just how much money they could make of the legalization of marijuana by taxing it, they would do in in a heart beat. They will have to do something once everyone quits smoking cigs, cause they will always be pot smokers eh?

There is a book called "Why Marijuana Should Be Legal" do a search on Amazon, it's a good book and it actually discusses why the pharma companies don't ant it legal. Like I said earlier it has something to do with not being able to patent weed, and the major losses they would suffer from their synthetic MJ debacle. Just remember people you can not patent plants so they could not monopolize it legally.

Ahh but, if the feds were to legalize "Medical Marijuana" They would also more than likely setup lots of red tape and licensing fees blah blah that only big dollar corps could handle. Grow yer own would probably be illegal still. so that leaves it in the hands of pharma companies to handle and overcharge for. Big Politics supports Big Business.

The only solution that would truly serve "The People" is a complete removal of all marijuana prohibition.

I'm sure they already realize this but, the guys running the government get these fat bundles of money called "Campaign Contributions" the pharma companies invest lots of money in politicians.
