Hi, As you probably already know, in gardening many soil gardeners just use a little (appropriate amt. for the volume or area of soil you want to treat) Dolomite lime with equal amounts Gypsum to raise pH, I'm sure you know it's a great source of calcium, and helps outdoor clay like soils drain better too....good for the roots even watered in from the top.
Raising the pH of the nutrient mix will do it eventually too but you run the risk of adding extra 'salts' to your soil which may not be beneficial to your plants overall health. The lime and Gypsum are salts too but are readily available to the plants & have long been used by vegetable farmers for the very thing you're trying to achieve. I say keep the nutrient mix the same and add a little Lime & Gypsum.

ps other causes of acidic soils are overwatering, over fertilizing and mis-use of pH adjusting materials.

how long have you been growing in soil?
are the plants dieing because the soil ph is too low?
how tall and old is the plant?

I'd start by taking a generous pinch and seeing how evenly I could dust the top just before I watered. Then do your pH checks. I like to use a little Gypsum dusted the same way at the same time so they can work in concert together...you can always add more after a few tests if need be... Good Luck! GrowIT!:weed:

Well I've been growing it since Jan 1 and it's 12/12 from seed so I guess small yield but I use pureblend bloom calc mag + and j had added all benificial microbes and fungi from a small test tube once. I don't knowwhat to do because plants can grow in the 6 range and I know the nutes I'm using are low strenght so I'm not sure if the plant actually needs more nutes or it's locked out.

I'm getting the yellowing up from the bottom. I deff have a few tips looking tiny crisp edges like burnt but it's very minor. I was thinking about doing a guano Nd lime feeding. Would that be okay with what I feed it now. In a 1 gallon container

Hi, In general when I see lower leaves yellowing it usually is a sign of roots that are too wet for too long. What is your irrigation pattern? When in doubt dry it out! You want to water for sure but you also want to allow a certain amount of drying between waterings in soils and even in a hydro set up. You want to get air back into the roots too. Otherwise things start to want to rot in the root zone. Slow growth is also a sign of over watering.
If there is drying or curling around the edges then I'd also consider using just pure water for the next week or two just to be sure there is no overdose of your nutes going on.
Also if you're using nothing but a bloom fertilizer and it has no nitrogen what so ever then I'd add a tich of your grow/nitrogen nutrient to the bloom mix to encourage more greening of the leaves. That'll help the plant make food for it's self. Don't take guesses unless they're really educated ones.
Lastly to become good at educated guesses get a good reference book like Jorge Cervantes' Indoor grow guide (lots of great reference pictures) or check out the huge compilations on this site of growing tips. Stick to basic gardening theory. I use only Earth Juice 'Grow' & 'Bloom' and get great results. Sounds like the leaves are just a result of wet roots staying too wet. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Good Luck! Consantrate more on the ph of the feed that you are putting in rather than what is comeing out.Has long has the ph is anything from 5.5/6.5 then the plants should be fine................................tyke..................................................

i fed with just plain distilled 7.0 water and woke up and leaves were yellow.run off still at 6.0. bloom nutes are pureblend bloom which has some nitrogen in it.shoot stems purple/pink as well.lock out or too little nutrition. ITS CLIMBING UP THE SHOOTS AND THE BASE FROM BOTTOM UP

baking soda is also ph up. I think the plant looks fine. Some older leaves turning yellow isn't a big deal. Good luck

plant still alittle sad looking, stressed like an umbrella leaves alittle hard.so i fed today with half strenght veg formula, and a half teaspoon of baqt guano 7-9-5 so ill be waiting to see what happens. also checked roots for rot and or anything funny and things seem to be fine.ph runoff still at 6.0 i fed with an 7.5-8.0 feedgin
