PH test strips

You guys are my last resort, I've searched high & low to find how long do you wait after taking the test to read the results on the chart of a PH test strip ? If I read it instantly it shows a PH of 6.5 but after a few minutes it reads 7.25 any suggestions would be appreciated. Instructions on case says to dip in water for 1/2 second and compare it with the color chart and as Lenard would say on Big Bang Theory ---- what does that mean? lol
Thanks in advance

The read is instant, reaction with the air changes it with time.
Why not just do a slurry test?

Thanks a lot JD I appreciate your answer, I do a slurry with the PH strips, I've used the solution test kits, the kits only give you a small amount of reagent then you have to buy another test kit. I grow for personal use only so my grows are 2 - 3 plants, I like to test my PH each time I up can just to make sure every things ok.

You should own a pH pen or drops. Strips are not reliable. Humidity can screw them up.
