PH Question

What is a good PH for soil? I hear some people talking about how PH should be between 5.5 and 6.5, but to me that seems too acidic, and not sure if that is for hydro or soil, if there should be a difference between the two. I have also heard people say that PH should be between 6.5 and 7.

If you are using soil and the ph of the soil is 7 is that bad? I would think that since 7 is totally neutral then there shouldn't be any harm, unless of course the plants are the type that need slightly acidic soil. Not sure if they are or not. Any advice?

I use to keep mine at 6.2-6.5. If you were to add nutes to your plant ,which you should, your ph would skyrocket or dive if you didnt balance your ph.
