Ph problems

Hello, hope you guys can help. Having trouble with some 3 week old autos now. Some girls leaves are starting to hook downwards and edges are cupping. So my tap water Ph is 8.5 naturally. As a test I watered one plant today with just plain tap water at 8.5. run off came out at ph6. That seems nuts as I’ve not even used nutrients. Just using bio buzz all mix and have watered previously once with 8.5 water and once with 6.5. I’m using ph kit with ph solution to measure this btw.

Anyway I watered another girl with plain water adjusted with malt vinegar (as this is an organic grow) to 6.5. The run off ph came out at 6.5. I dunno wtf is going on here. The run off should be lower when I water with a lower ph water?!? Can someone help me out here because I’m totally out of ideas?

Right now I’m just thinking water them all with 6.5 adjusted water. If it comes out at 6.5 then that’s cool... even if that makes 0 sense. Maybe I’m being an idiot here. Need some enlightenment please and thank you

Mainly your water has few buffers in the carbonate form and your soil has a shit ton of stuff that will completely over power those puny water buffers and thus your readings, problem solved :-)

makes total sense, since measuring run off just tells you the ph of the dirty water that ran thru real fast. There is a lot going on in an organic soil and run off readings don't tell you anything about it. I would ph to 5.8 to 6.4 range and go with it. high alkaline isn't good for weed.

Since pH is driven by fertilizer, what you probably have done is wash out some fertilizer with the first run off test. Removing fert with raise the pH in soil. It's possible that your 6.5 water dominated the run off so much that you get a test result at 6.5. In the end it's hard to tell what happened. I would do nothing if were you. Just give your water without pHing and see what happens.
