Of course pH matters... I'd recommend doing more research before undertaking something you're a bit too uneducated on.

They need more than water. How long can you go on water only? They need food and good aerated soil.

And yes PH matters.

Outside it will mostly get clean rain water. Unless you start adding chems or the soil is totaly fucked ph shouldnt be an issue. For all we know the soil is exelent. For all we know the soil is 90%clay and you will get root rot before ph is ever an issue.
Do your self a favor spend 15 bucks on a 45 gal smart pot and 45 on good potting soil like ocean forrest or roots organic 707. Water with rain water or well water if you cant get distilled or ro water. Outgassed city water only as a last resort.
Thats 60 bucks to grow decent trees. You can spend more for nuts microbes phing gear ect all this will improve yeald but just to grow a plant and get something out of it 60 is a pretty small investment.

He's saying it will grow but if you don't pH your water and feed it properly and do all the things necessary you're not going to have shit worth it..
This is so fucking false it hurts my head. I have never ph'ed my soil grows outside. In hydro of any kind I would PH your water, but not soil.
