What would cause my PH to climb so high every day? I have to add PH Down every day to get it back to 5.8. It climbs to 6.7 and 6.8....
I'm running a drip system with FloraNova Grow, 7/4/10.
400 watt hps. Temp around 79.
Any ideas?

I seen the same crazy results after reusing my hydroton.. A friend mentioned it was because i didnt clean it properly.. I would also consider res temps and if the water temps in your res are fluctuating. the problem corrected itself after about a week.. Although the temps dropped at the same time so ill never be sure if it was the temps or the rocks. or both.

Thanks! I will keep an eye on the temp. This is harder than I thought it would be, but it is a lot of fun too. I'm actually having a blast with it.

Does the PPM change? If it is then something is being used more than something else. Maybe salts being consumed more than calcium causing it to go up - just for example.

I do not have a PPM Meter. I should get one though. I have relied on the instructions on the bottle for dosage accuracy. So, you're saying the plants may be using more of one element of the newt than others? Interesting. I never thought of that. I will get a PPM. Thanks so much!!

Are you running a drip to waste or reusing? I am guessing reusing. I am doing ucdwc and when I had that happen it was either algae/root rot/slime. This also happens if your nutes are "off balance" and needs a rez change. We run different set up but that has been my experience.

Large ph swings can be caused by bad bactiria in your water/res tank, things to look for are water temps?
discolored roots? Or a rotton smell.

Also floranova doesnt have much in the way of ph buffers so keep that in mind.

I'm recycling the res. Maybe I should change my res once a week?
Thanks for the info!!

If cost is a issue technoflora is a great choice, AN has the ability to take ph completly out.zero need to adjust ever.
but im finding canna to be very clean and stable :)
