PH dosing Pump

Dear Members,

I am about to upgrade my growing setup and i need a pros input on a few things. My setup is as follows.

24 dwc buckets
4- 1000 watts (2HPS + 2MH)
2-Reservoirs (1 REZ + 1 RO accumulator)
Hanna Mini controlers...(TDS + PH)
Black stone dossing pumps for the mini controlers.

So i was buying the dossing pumps today, the hanna instrument sales rep tells me the dossing pump can not handle acids. I was also asking for a 1.5 LPH (0.4GHP)pump but they only have a 5 Lph (1.5GPH) pump available at the moment.

So my question is will the pump handle the Acid and is the 5 Litre pump adequate or is it to much?
I'm buying directly through hanna instruments, so the sales rep has no clue to our requirements.

Need a pros input

I don't know anything about using acids in dosing pumps, but I don't think that you will need to adjust pH with a controller, unless you don't want to visit the grow at all for a week or more. Especially using RO water and nutes, the pH shouldn't fluctuate enough to require automatic adjusting.

If you really want to use phosphoric acid, I'd say that even at the highest concentration for pH Down (30%) it may not mess up the pump/controller.

Yes, phosphoric acid will work throughout growing. It's something that is available to be used by the plant anyway. Some growers use Nitric acid or Fulvic acid during veg, and phosphoric during flowering.

Can't handle acids.. Well thats a blanket uneducated statement.. Find out what kind of steel is used in the pumps.. 316SS can hold up against pretty concentrated phosphoric acids fairly well, and you can dilute it to compensate for the larger pump..
And if chemistry doesn't scare you, read up on buffering with phosphate buffers.. Phosphoric acid's biggest advantage is its reaction products buffer pH REALLY well in our range.. You can react pH Down with various things to create the buffer products themselves to make these, and suppliment the res with them..
