Day 7 12/12 & AUTO @ Day "41"

01.jpg02.jpg03.jpg04.jpg

When things start to get pretty I will take photos without the HPS on, I know it's annoying I hate how they look myself but it's a chore that's not really worth worrying about as I have no other adequate lighting around.

I am quite fortunate that Auto stopped stretching too, literally 1 more inch would be too much. I have my hood as high as I can possibly get it and I can BARELY fit my flat hand between the top cola and the glass, it's literally less than 2 inches below the glass. It's a little close for comfort but I am managing to keep it 77 degrees at that point so it's not really even an issue unless the plant keeps growing.

I still don't know what to call this auto out on day wise. Honestly, I germinated the seeds on March 17th, they emerged from Rockwool on March 22nd... If I counted since Germination I would be currently at DAY 58 I have been counting days since my roots hit the reservoirs (so after growth had finally started moving so to speak) but I am now thinking of considering 'Day 1' the day that I saw the seedlings emerge from the rockwool cubes which would then put me at DAY 53. (11 days ahead of where I said I was last post)

It's funny how confused I am on what day I should consider this plant at lol... if I considered it Day 58 this would definitely not be a 60 day strain, it would be more like a 75 day strain from how far along I feel I am right now. At least I have trichs showing now maybe these plants just mature way quicker and the changes are going to be very rapid. If this stuff was really "Day 58" I'd want to start flushing already and I haven't even gotten to use my Dry KoolBloom yet. LOL, I don't think I am going to grow another Auto (although I am very impressed by how much of a yield I think I may get off of it... it LOOKS like it's going to be at least 2-3 ounces to me.)

Day 8 Flower CB/AMS ... Day "53" SuperSonic Cristal Storm
I am going to start my count closer to the seed sprouting now and actually hope this plant really is done in ~65 days. Still have doubts, and if that's true I think I should start considering using the Dry KoolBloom within maybe a week? It's hard for me to judge this stuff since they seemingly flower so much faster than a normal plant.

Wish my leaves did not look so terrible on the Auto, not a cause for concern though as I alleviated any issues as far as I can tell. I also took 8 cuttings from the Cluster Bomb & AMS (4 each)

Not sure if my Journal is just pretty boring right now, or if people don't feel welcome to post (I saw the sticky that says not to post in people's journals) I totally welcome anyone and everyone into my thread. Just throwing that out there, I am sure things will get more fun when I have more plants popping out some glorious buds. When my plants get later in maturity I will put more focus into taking nice photos as well. :)

I can't wait to see what this SuperSonic Cristal Storm ends up doing though and a smoke report on it, I have noticed there are next to no grow journals or much info on this strain as it must be very unpopular for whatever reason. It's been bugging me because I wanted to find other similar grows to compare mine to but only found a small handful and not very detailed.

About to order some Reptisun UV lights as well, not sure if those are a decent choice or not but I have T8 fixtures and they're only about $20/tube so I can't see much of a downside. I am wondering how many of these I should have in each grow area I was going to order just a couple for now but can't quite decide how many I'd like to dedicate to each grow area. They are 32W each, I figured maybe 2 in my tent w/ the SSCS and 2-4 in my Flower room (a pair on each side of the plants) unless just 1 per side is sufficient.

I'm currently reading up as much as I can on UVA/B at the moment to figure this out once and for all.

The auto SSCS looks like she has a bit to go yet. Most auto's are around 70+ days from germ I think. A few I've seen around 70 and one that claims 60 days. She looks beastly for an auto tho, should be a nice yielder.

Yeah that's what I was thinking it's advertised as '60-65 days from seed' which I thought was insane even before I thought about growing it, I read the same things sometimes about them going 10 days or so longer than they're advertised, I figured it was highly unlikely and I bet I'll be doing about 75 days. Well, actually I am going to harvest whenever the trichs are mostly cloudy so whatever day that is lol. Just gotta make sure I have enough warning time to run Dry KB for a week and then get a week flush in there too.

You are running some really interesting strains and have a really sweet setup. Sometimes it just takes awhile for people to start posting I think. But the flowers definitely will bring more views I'm sure. Alot of the views and posts I get are from people who's journals I've viewed or posted in. Either way your going to have a great show coming up once you flip so at least update for me! Peace

Most of my Trichs (although small) are cloudy already on the Supersonic, I was not expecting that (these are the very small sugar leaves tight up against the pistils/bud sites) I don't really have much meat on the buds yet to check directly on them it's all still pistil development for the most part and no swollen calyxes or recession into them. I was expecting them to be predominately clear but they're pretty cloudy.

SideNote: I use an ActiveEye 40X powered microscope and this thing is a HUGE pain in the ass to look through directly on the plant, keeping it steady well enough to get my eye up to it AND focus it is very frustrating but I don't wanna pluck off pieces of my plant to do it on a table either. I kind of regret this purchase (works well) but wish I had gotten something more convenient.

I also hate how it does not lock into the open position, once I finally get it situated at a bud site and go in to take a look it wants to close itself, drift all over, etc. haha. I Hate this thing, but I need it.

Bored out of my mind, so I took a photo... Slowly filling in, I wish I could fast forward a couple weeks so I'd have less time to wait on this thing.

My Reptisun 10.0 UV lights showed up today as well, think I'll throw them in there w/ the SSCS and see if things get frostier.

I am still unsure about safety concerns for myself when being around these UVB/A tubes, I'm sure they're bad for my eyes but wasn't sure if there are any other precautions I need to take. I don't even wear my sunglasses most of the time when I am around my plants but it probably wouldn't be a bad practice to start on.

Also found a new friend in my tent, looks kind of like a baby praying mantis or something... red eyes and green, hasn't quite formed it's trademark forearms yet but kind of looks like them.

Anyone know what this little guy is, if not a Mantis?

Well I took the Auto out of the tent just for a minute to figure out a better way to arrange things and found out the entire top of my plant is bleached all to hell (the glass from my hood is literally about 2 inches away and was 1 inch away at one point because that's how tall my tent is) I never realized it was creating such a problem under the HPS light color and I see it's grown into a rounded top without pistils sticking out, I wonder if I caused this plant to stop growing in height I thought I just got lucky that it stopped where it did. lol

Anyway, I guess I'll never know how tall it was going to get I have seen other grows of this strain where it's got a very tall main cola and mine is not tall but the whole plant is around 30" I suppose it is pretty big for an auto, the bushiness of it is ridiculous compared to all the other auto grow journals I have checked out -- most people have these tiny plants, this thing isn't tiny at all.

Anyway, I am growing it outside of the tent now so I could raise my light up about 10 inches... wonder if it will start packing on the main cola again or if I stunted it and it's just what it is.

That bleaching is crazy.

All in all I am still impressed by the size of this, I expected it to be half this big based on other autos I have seen. I am figuring it has a couple more weeks, the shot of the bleached cola does not really give good indication of the bud development as the others look different since they weren't nuked. My temps AT THE GLASS were only 77 average though, I figured everything was safe.

Ya they don't like that close exposure. :( This chart gives a good idea of how far to keep your light lumens based on wattage and distance. I keep mine right at the threshold till the last 2 weeks of flower.

Yeah, funny thing is I always thought those recommendations were based on heat stress and related issues where my temps were pretty good I figured it was just fine. My plant disagreed, I am sure that over the next 2 weeks it will fix itself and look pretty nice up there though I believe I was just inhibited further development and they just started packing real tight into a white solid ball rather than reaching out to go new places lol.

Interested to see how it looks a few days, I have plenty of distance now and I have the UV B/A light hanging vertically along the height of the plant for max coverage, I will rotate the plant once a day probably and I figure that will give me nice exposure and hopefully get these trichs to blow up. I still have faith in this plant finishing awesome just wish I didn't mangle the top so bad.

Let's call this Day 58 I suppose, really wondering how much later I should wait to use my Dry KoolBloom still, no amber trichs at all of course and all pistils are still white with maybe a hint of the tips in a few starting to turn color but otherwise looking like a little ways to go. I am wondering if it would be too late to kick in the Dry KoolBloom when I see my first amber Trichome? I would want to run it for at least a few days to a week and then still have time for at least a week long flush. I'd also use Florakleen to help the flush along and eventually just have it down to plain water for the very end. This whole process would be about 2 weeks I figure which is why I am wondering if I should start using it soon or still continue to wait?

Ahhhhh! Not sure. ample time for a flush I definitely want this time I had a little harshness last time around. I hate those nasty looking leaves too, oh well.

I have also been considering some defoliation but that has mixed opinions, I did remove maybe 10 fan leaves there were blocking access to air flow or smaller buds but that's about it. Did the same thing in the flower room with the other two plants as well but mainly just for air flow and penetration down below, I tried to do it very sparingly.

Yeah screw it, I think I am going to drain the bucket and give it a florakleen flush for 2-4 hours then fill it back up with nutes mixed by hand using some of that dry KoolBloom and no more of the liquid, just the fact that I am at 60 days already and it's a '60-65' day strain makes me think I should do this if I am still planning to go as long as 2 more weeks on this thing. There's no way in hell this plant is done right now unless I just don't know what I'm doing lol.

I do see a few pistils finally starting to turn amber though, not sure on trichs yet I haven't looked under my scope since the other day but they were definitely milky then. I do seem to see a few areas where they are receding into the calyx's too. By golly I think It's ready! too bad I don't have time to let my water site overnight I don't have any spare containers so it's gonna go in straight chlorinated. I think I'll only run the dry KB for a few days, not even a week then focus most on the flush because I want these things clean for harvest.

Hey Dr. Gribble, just caught up with your journal. This is stellar mate, no idea why you`re not getting any traffic! With Stone and I in here now though, you`re sure to get a few more straying your way mate ;). Done a great job so far, perpetual grows make the best threads as they tend to continue on. Keep it coming for us Gribs, keep it green,

KC :weed:

Thanks for coming on in! :)

I just flushed my bucket and root system for couple hours and now I have the new Nutrient mix in there with the KB Dry, probably only run this for a few days as I think I'll want to consider starting the flush pretty quick I have a feeling this plant is going to just start maturing pretty rapidly considering how many days it's been going so I want to get it flushed and cut before I have too many amber trichs.
