Hey growers, I'm back up and running and currently creating plans on my perpetual harvest. My last grow went awesome which by the way was my first grow ever. Not to brag but I believe for a first timer I did pretty damn good, the buzz proved it along with the smell, feel, looks, and taste. I had many friends think it was some Top Shelf from the dispensary just because I always had some with me in little orange containers and it smelled dank. Nuff said.. Anyway lets start from the beginning.....

These are the last pics of my first time grow doing a perpetual harvest, had two tents one 400w mh and one 600w hps. I was running soil and dwc messing around to see what i like best and at the time i had gotten hooked up with lots of these air pots for FREE so soil was the thing. Shit went sour at the location i was growing in and i had to toss everything and pack up my equipment. ended up finishing one 5gal dwc.. skywalker OG clone elsewhere, out of like 9 clones i made from Skywalker og and sour flower.

So after mad chaos i managed to get my gear from the secret location and was able to keep ONE Skywalker OG and grow it elsewhere in my "veg" tent LOL super un stealth with the loud ass 6 inch fan. But i had to do what i had to do. I just couldnt give up and throw it all away for nothing. I needed that taste of freshly harvested herbs that I GREW ! It broke my heart to throw away the plants although i did guerrila grow a few but they died fast since i never tended to em! So here is the finished product of my First grow ever. Hydro...FTW!

The nugs were so much frostier in person these pics just dont do em justice...

Did I mention that i drowned them (turned off air pump) for 10 days and left them in complete darkness for the last 3 days! Chopped plant in full and hung upside down in complete darkness for 1-2 weeks then trimmed....my own Hybrid method from many techniques of curing/drying that I've read throughout this forum.... kind of gives em a headstart on the cure.. My first grow so idk but i liked my results dont ask if it worked or not because i truly dont know.... btw this pic is when i started chopping away and trimming.

The harvest was amazing. Smelled so pungent and skunky was very very dense and really sticky. Smoked my friends out and they all thought it was from the dispensary until I told them i grew it... They could not believe it lol next thing I know their all calling me to pick up -___- I was like NO this is personal! now on the other hand if it would've been perpetual well that's different story haha... who says i cant use the extra gas money.
20121128_224604.jpg20121128_224629.jpg20121128_224635.jpg20121129_011012.jpg20121129_011221.jpg

I ended up with about 2.5 oz dry weight.... I feel i couldve had a little over 3oz if i didnt chop so much off when i put her in the small "veg" tent. I thought more light penetration = better denser nugs. anyway no regrets :) even though i couldve had pounds and more than what I really needed with my perpetual I feel that the drawback taught me a lesson and now i can jump in butt naked and really have a great PH going. Btw my initial goal was at least 1.5 oz from the 5gal bucket...

So now i'm growing again and my veg tent is at the shoe repair lol getting stitched up for this new grow op.... so far i've vegged in my sunhut and i've just flipped them to 12/12.

Below from left to right... Sour Grape ... Two Skywalker OG's from BagSeed Great smoke.... super silver haze and finally Venus OG

+rep looking good bro keep up the good work
very nice grow i also gave you rep
Thanks guys, appreciate the rep. I will try my best to update consistently. I'm an open book and willing to share whatever knowledge I have, but hope to gain more knowledge from as many growers as I possibly can.

Update:

I came up on a good deal from craigslist:

EcoPlus Commercial 5 Air Pump

View attachment 2546778
Specs:

- 80 watts
- 88 liter/min
- 3.11 cfm
- 4.2 psi

The guy also threw in this chrome valve with 8 adjustable outlets and 2 air stones

1.0x0.jpg

All this for only $40.00 ;-)

Anyway so now I figured i might as well get that 6 inch air disc i've been wanting. I thought that since its a disc and it sits flat on the bottom it will give max air and bubble straight to the root zone. I liked the design and it seemed like a great fit for our dwc buckets afterall the damn things are $20 each depending on your source and in my case it was the local hydro shop.

EcoPlus 6 inch Air Stone Disc

Now below are the stones i've been using since DAY 1 and boy i'll tell ya, these little cylindrical fuckers kick some major ass in our DWC buckets. I personally would recommend two in each bucket for max air flow.

So I went home and plugged in the new pump new hoses and put two stones in one bucket and one disc and small stone in the other bucket. But let me tell you this, i bet you wouldn't have figured that the bucket with the two cylindrical stones are kicking so much more ass than the disc its not even funny it looks like the water is boiling which is "very goood very nicee" (borat accent) because the roots are boiling in oxygen.

Now when i look at the buckets side by side clearly the disc SUCKS i mean don't get me wrong it works and bubbles but the two stones are just superior and the best part of all they are cheaper! I will make a video or a side by side photo to show you the comparison. I'm stoked to discover this and experiment but bummed because i dont have much money to be doing these experiments and just want to get things done right the first time but hey trial and error right.....

So my initial thought when i first purchased the cylindrical stones for my first grow was " Surface Area"... to me the cylindrical stones had way more surface area than the disc did, which meant more air flow more bubbles more oxygen to the roots. I just couldnt wrap my head around the price difference. I guess i was fooled in buying the disc this time because it cost more money which in theory you'd think its better and in this case IMO its NOT!

Conclusion: Cylindrical air stones have more surface area than the disc and by adding two stones at the cost of around $6 bucks each for a total of around 12 bucks, its clearly the cheaper and more effective air stone than the 6 inch disc that runs for about $20.

Also the main contributing factor to the delivery of oxygen is the pump! without a good strong pump it doesnt matter what airstone you use its all in the pump pushing that air. I wish i wouldve went home plugged it in first to the stones, if i wouldve tested it first i wouldve bought two more cylindrical stones vs that air disc.. ohh well we live and we learn!

Hey bud... saw the link in 600. Where the heck/what the heck is that Venus OG? one of my Fav strains of all time is Venus Flytrap. that'd be cool if thats why its named that, but i doubt it. nice pics!

You weren't joking about being pic heavy. :)

All the talk about air pumps and bubbles made me think of the Dutch Master - Zone I use. They don't market it as anything to do with oxygen... it's just sold as a "root zone conditioner", but why I bring it up is the stuff makes the surface tension of the water lower, or less, whatever the correct term is. When you put it in (1ml/ gal) the bubbles the air pump makes become much smaller and there are many more of them. I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Congrats on a successful first grow. I had one of those too. You must have studied a lot.

Hey well from the research i've pulled up this is what i've got:

Venus OG Breeder Source : Cuts : GSC Wellness Lineage : Tahoe OG x Bubba Kush x LA Confidential x SFV OG
Flowering Time to Harvest: 70 Days
Effect Description : Fruity Tasting OG with subtle earthy undertones, Heavy Indica with significant couch lock effect Recommended
GROWTH CHARACTERISTICS: grows large, dense, and dark green.High flower to leaf ratio.Turns out very manageable either indoors or outdoors.

I've personally really enjoyed the smoke from the dispensaries out here that claim its Venus OG. Every spot that i've gone to has something different of course, from a different grower. I'm now at the point to where even though its a new cut from a different grower and sold from a different dispensary I can tell whether or not its that strain, well at least i think i can lol I notice the nug structure and smells are very similar even though they're different. I've been to spots where I see skywalker and well i've grown it so I know it well now and man there skywalker is bunk ass shit or not skywalker at all just bs.. anyway sorry for rambling on i'm stoned...
