perfect temperature for storing seeds and cuttings

I am interested in storing plant cuttings and seeds in my refrigerator to use on a later date. I know that I want to keep the temps above freezing to avoid cell damage but does anyone have an idea of what the ideal temperature would be. I am thinking around 40 Fahrenheit as this is close to freezing but offers enough cushion to be safe. Anyone have another opinion on the matter?
