I was just wondering what people think the percentage of indoor grows that end up with bugs/pests are? Or out of all your grows how many ended up with bugs?

Just curios on how often this is a problem for people.

I have em, its caused mainly from bringing plants/soil from outside to the inside. Out of 5 grow setups, 2 had pests, both of which had something that started outside, the first was clones from outdoor plants, the second was from a potted plant outside being brought in for the winter to be mothered and cloned.

Thought this thread was gonna die with no replies, thanks for the response +rep

Good to know, glad to hear the majority of your grows went pest-less. I'll make sure to keep outdoors/indoors separate. I have heard of people washing everything they have used outside before they come inside like changing and everything before they go to their indoor plants. Seems a little extreme to me but I'm sure it pays off if your dedicated. My bad on the rambling, on vacation so been smoking all day.

all my small ops had no pests, its when you step up the scale that things go unnoticed, I think there are more people that have pests than want to admit it, its a pride thing, they only admit once they need help getting rid of it, but its a sore subject, I understand!!!

I have had mites in my veg room,,neem oil mixed up with nicotine to break up the routine and make sure the bastards dont become immune. Any bugs of any kind are on a strict TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT policy,,,,or more of a slow and painful death policy...

take it easy..:leaf:

Having insects, fungus or mold is high on my dread list! This has to be a common problem with MJ growers because there are so many products available to help get rid of them. I will follow the steps of growers before me and after each grow clean and santitize my grow areas before the next one. That includes washing containers, measuring spoons and cups, and the area with hot water and a little bleach. Oooo, can't stand the thought of having bugs. Growing in the warmer months is almost impossible not to get those flying insects in an indoor garden.:leaf::leaf::finger:

i think everybody who grows for a significant amount of time is going to end up battling/dealing with some sort of bug at some point. so i guess my answer is 100% given enough time.

In five indoor grows, I have not had any pest problems. I use No Pest strips and take precautions with pets and when I come indoors after doing yard work.

i agree with mello.
Definitely, my original question is like asking, percentage of people who ride a bicycle end up with a flat tire, if you ride a bike long enough eventually you will get one.

I was just curious because was not sure if it was one of those problem that just seems more frequent than it really is. But it sounds like that as long as you are careful it should not be too big of a problem.

diligence and vigilance go a long way, for sure.
it also kind of depends what kind of area you live in, too, i think. we know we live side by side with all manner of pest here because we're smack in the middle of an agricultural zone (oodles of single-crop fields *sigh*) so we're kind of resigned to nature (or whatever you wanna call it) occasionally getting the better of our best precautions. *another sigh* nature finds a way, especially when it's being *gassed* outside.

as a dirt grower who loves dirt in spite of all its obvious disadvantages i'll be the first to admit that as a medium it is way more susceptible to all sorts of frenemies. that said, if you manage to catch pretty much anything early before you get infested and make it uncomfortable for them (which is what a lot of organic pest solutions amount to) a lot of stuff will mostly leave/die off to a manageable level.

still waiting to get 'springtails'; apparently they're good for your soil.

i've been growing indoors at this location for 2 years and am just experiencing my first bug problem. i got fungus gnats from a bag of happy frog. the bag looked like it had been through hell but i was pressed for time and used it anyway. what a pain in the ass.

I think of bit of it has to do with your personal scenario. When I lived in the city I had no problems at all. Moved to a tiny cabin in the woods and can't help to get them every time. My place is to small to form any quarantine area for my plants and there are a bit more bugs around.

You should have made a poll so that you don't have to read every comment. but I've never had a bug problem and all the cases I see of bug problems are people with dirty floors and carpeting
