Has anyone ever tested for moisture in there buds and what would be the Ideal percentage of moisture to store buds for long term and not have to worry about any mold. Thanksbongsmilie

I'm really not too worried about it because I go by the stem snap test to tell when they are dry but my dad was telling me about these hand held things where you can put something inside of it, a bud for instance in this case and it will tell you the percentage of moisture it holds... has anyone ever toyed around with something like this?

I'm just familiar w moisture meters from the logging industry... it has 2 metalic probes that physically inserts into the wood/sample to test. I don't know of anything that can just scan a item inside of a container & tell it's mc...?

Practically bone dry. Leave it in a very low humidity room for a few weeks. You can store/cure it for one hell of a long time after that because there is almost no humidity. When you want to take it out, just put some fresh buds or citrus peel or lettuce leaf (depending on if you want more marijuana/citrus/no smell) in with it for a day to re humidify. Can come out just as good as a freshly picked bud + a long cure.

I'd leave my buds curing for 6 months and then put my fresh buds in the same container for a day.

red is right, if your gonna store bud somewhere in a jar or bag and not open it for a long period of time, the bud must be very very dry, you cannot have alot of moisture or it will buildup and turn into mold spores fast

lol yea mold develops very quickly I've never had a problem I was just wondering if anyone had a number out there.... like for example should be at least 12% moisture for long term storage... I was just stoned and wondered if anyone actually got that serious about it. I just do the stem snap test. I dry at 70 degrees F and 32% humidity and Its usually done In a week or so depending on the strain. then I put them In jars and open them up and gently shake em twice a day. for at least a week before I sample and continue the process for a couple weeks. After that I just shake em every no and then but once my bud hits the jars it stays there unless I take a roadtrip.
